Nobody in their right mind would prefer to drive to a stadium miles out of town and have a pint of fruit shoots in a isolated Pizza Hut or get on a sweaty, pissed up shuttle bus over going to whatever pub you want and walking to a stadium.

I tend to agree with the above. Tellingly, in our own NLN League alone, there are three excellent examples of clubs who abandoned their more centrally located old grounds for a modern, out of town, stadium, whilst still a Football League club; Scunny, Chester and Darlo. Progress? Not guaranteed. And personally, I'm old enough to remember visiting the Old Show Ground, Sealand Road and Feethams, and much preferred the atmosphere in the those historic old grounds to their soulless replacements.
There's also Telford. Stayed in their location, now have a tidy ground. They went busy after building it (one person's ego) but they're an example of improving an existing ground that we could look at. HUFC went busy too, a few years back. 😉

Bit weird that if you're busy you end up going busy. One would imagine not being busy would mean you end up busy.

The main issue I see in terms of redeveloping the Blackfriars End is whilst we are in this league, is there any need to do it? If we were in League 2, then yes, but most clubs at this level only bring a small number of away supporters so it would be a waste of time building a stand more than 500/600. I think it would have to be split like the old Blackfriars, so half and half it e.g 300 home, 300 away and then they could also have whatever the Len Weston away holds, which I think would take it to about 1000 allocation for away fans. But in terms of an investment, in the nicest way possible we don’t fill the 3 sides of the ground we have now unless it’s a big game, so is it really needed whilst we are lingering in this division.

But what if it facilitated an all year round income stream due to its contents below the surface.

With the benefit of hindsight I struggle to see what that land behind the BE could be used for with there being no parking. Shops - can't see that? Hotels/boozers/restaurants - ditto. Private/social housing. Can you flog stuff easily with no parking? How do the new flats behind the main stand work? That just leaves student bleeding accommodation. Just what the planet needs more of. What is the story behind NMITE? Is that going anywhere? 30 years too late surely. 7oaks you know stuff along these lines. I would like a little more info on NMITE too. It all seems seems to me to be shrouded in mystery. yourherefordshire.co.uk/all/news/news-nmite-confirms-its-new-degree-awarding-powers-another-milestone-in-its-university-journey/

Interesting developments. Is the Blackfrirs End beyond repair? What is structurally wrong with it?
I'm thinking if it is bulldozed in the summer as they are now thinking and there is no plan beyond that it would just end up being left like that for god knows how long.

Just dead money if you tried to get that back roadworthy. A nice 1200-1500 all seater stand with family friendly loos and facilities would be spot on.

I meant our alternative football family. A ditch and a rag to wipe your hands. In all seriousness, taking a young daughter to that place can't be too appealing. Not that I have ever been in the ladies loos I might add, they may well be palatial. Although I am not certain.

Student accommodation/shops and a decent sized terrace+60 year lease on the ground. Starting late spring.
That's what I've heard anyway.
