Byline or implied byline of any number of facile, graceless and juvenile trolls who take any downturn in the fortunes of HFC (and HUFC before that) as a justification of their irrational existence on what is otherwise a valuable forum for the interaction of genuine Bulls supporters. Er...4-0 down at HT and I was defending Peter Beadle...while others were taking advantage of the "downturn in the fortunes of HFC" by saying he was a "sentimental appointment" and "had to go." Never let the truth get in the way of a witty and malicious remark, though, eh? (Oh, and by the way, I wasn't on the HUFC forum). |

When have we been 4-0 down at half time under PB? Have I missed something? HT in this case stands for Heanor Town, not Half Time. In the crazy world of OME we were 4-0 down at half time but went on to win 7-2. |

by The Duke of StratosphearAs some people – notably ‘outsiders’ – appear to be having considerable trouble grasping some of the finer details of this forum and its rules, I have a friend of mine has produced an easy to digest guide which hopefully will put a few things straight. Firstly, the definition of WHOOSHING. A whoosh is issued when somebody has made a remark – usually with a subtle, humorous slant to it – which somebody else subsequently fails to pick up on (hence, “whoosh” is the sound made by the remark as it flies clean over the responder’s head). Secondly, the definition of FISHING. This is the use of a post that is worded in an inflammatory way so as to try and elicit a reponse from a particular demographic, often weak-minded, gullible fools without the moral fortitude and good sense to let it go. If they respond, they are said to have CHOMPED, and end up IN THE KEEPNET. Whooshing and fishing are intrinsically linked, and techniques relating to them are often used in tandem. For example, WHOOSHBAIT is a remark deliberately worded to try and elicit a response to which a whoosh could be issued. Certain forum users are in the habit of posting whooshbait in the form of deliberate falsities masquerading as FACT. This is a largely unimaginative and unsubtle approach to which the majority of BB users are now immune, but it continues to produce results from other, less savvy quarters. It is possible to fight fire with fire, and counter a whoosh in kind; this is known as the REVERSE WHOOSH. However, this requires considerable imagination and refinement, and is a risky technique open to abuse, as it may be wrongly used as justification for chomping after the event. It may even be an urban myth. Similarly, it is all too easy to claim that somebody has chomped merely by dint of having responded to a post. A chomp should only really be considered valid if the source material can be shown to have been sufficiently and deliberately provocative. Some boards employ a WHOOSH CZAR (or WHOOSHMEISTER). This person will be called upon from time to time to use the WHOOSHOMETER in order to pass judgement on disputes over claims and counter-claims of whooshing, reverse whooshing, and the occasional chomp. This board has one, and rumour has it that he is perplexed at the constantly rabid, pig-ignorant and stultifyingly ill-informed approach of some of this forum's users towards these once-great techniques. Henceforth, he hopes to see a "less is more" attitude adopted, in order that their gratuitous abuse should become less prevalent. The Pagedriver thus also seeks to accumulate an excessive number of valueless posts in the misguided belief that this somehow enhances Pagedriver validity.

Opinions differ as to the identities of the individual(s) involved, but it seems that the six rarely leave the comfort of their own armchairs, never attend Edgar Street and are unprepared to get off their backsides and contribute in any positive fashion.

Ex's Missing Mates
Numbering precisely 1000, a group of Hereford United fans who expressed their displeasure at the running of the club under Graham Turner by staying away from Edgar Street and vowing not to return until he'd gone. Prior to this all 1000 could regularly be found packed like sardines on the So Called Funbus travelling the length and breadth of the country visiting places such as Gillingham, Carlisle and Grimsby.
The refusal of the 1000 to return under David Keyte (presumably as a direct result of the shocking very hands on approach of co Director Tim Russon at the Open Day) undoubtedly led to the untimely demise of Hereford United in 2014 as even the attraction of spicy soup was not enough to distract the group from their alternative Saturday afternoon pastimes of garden centres, whist drives and drinking themselves senseless in the Barrels. Hence the occasional suggestion that it was the missing fans' fault.
Curiously the 1000 can now be seen swelling the coffers at Edgar Street, whilst the main man stays away. Which probably proves something or other.*
