1980
The year everything officially went to pot. FACT
Nothing that has happened since or will ever happen could ever be as good as its pre-1980 equivalent and if you are not old enough to remember then tough AND you're wrong.
Originally identified by Glosbull, albeit probably ironically.

Can nothing be done to prevent multiple user names? Totally unaccustomed to this forum/social media nonsense but I find these multiple identities of forum users incredibly tedious. Why can't one person stand up for what they want to say with one identity?

Answer at present is no i believe, as long as you follow simple protocol(as was demonstrated to me).I'd like to hear thoughts from some of the good brains on here on how to eradicate these vermin, unless of course posters prefer present asylum/circus.

Apart from limiting the number of usernames from a single email to one, I can't really see how it could be done.
Even multiple accounts from one IP address might be perfectly legitimate.
Either way, does it actually really matter?

I don't mind it being an asylum, having been identified as "bat-sh*t crazy" myself by several people, but I would be happier if the asylum consisted of one lunatic per human body, if you get what I mean. Then, if any sensible people turn up on here, they could start to recognise the particular types of insanity we all suffer from, and help us. Not that I've noticed any sensible people on here so far.

Either way, does it actually really matter? There is a way for new accounts to be approved by Admin - this was the case on BB. From one proboards account you can have many usernames - can Admin see all the BB accounts under one Proboards account? I admit that probably makes no sense.

Yes, obviously, but anyone with a brain would just sign up multiple usernames under different email address, wouldn't they? I don't know, I haven't done it for years. Anyway, as I said, I'm nor really sure what the problem is. As long as people don't go around backing themselves up on serious threads then there's nothing wrong with multiple usernames.

I've got mixed feelings. On the one hand, OME wouldn't be aware of this really, but it has been a staple of BB for years, there are some artists out there. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I would hesitate to chuck the likes of Soju and the other alvinations amongst others on the scrap heap. There have been some genius moments over the years - notably when one of Alvin's forum misinformations made it onto Sky Sport's News! The other kind of posters have done nothing but foster an atmosphere of paranoia. Mind you, having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if maybe Alvin was having a laugh with one of those accounts as well! Well I don't know. But I have a vested interest now, with a couple loonies intent on proving that I am a multiple-username-ist in supporting their exposure.
I shall now like my own post, even though it's pretty inarticulate, just to make a point.

Hang on, I thought I was the one who was supposedly posting as Murray last night. I'd better go and like my own post as well.

Last week the one eyed man accused someone else of being me. That person had better like it too, or it'll all feel incomplete.

Anyone fancy mixing it up and swapping usernames for a bit?
Murray, you can be beans, Moocow can be Murray, and I'll be Moocow.
That's if we're not breaching the 'posing as another person' rule?

I can't see a problem with that. If anything it will simplify matters for those who are having difficulty understanding what's going on.
