I will get round to putting up some decent stuff out of them programmes on here. In the meantime you will have to make do with this. Please feel to bung anything of your own on here.

Great stuff WL. I feel honoured to have seen big john play. He really was a special player.

The Scarrott/Charles combination seemed to produce a goal almost every game.

I think Scarrott provided crosses for four of his five goals against Folkestone.

I think Scarrott provided crosses for four of his five goals against Folkestone. How many times did the great JC score five goals in a game for Hereford United? He got another five goal haul against Llanidloes in the Welsh Cup so that's at least twice!

Then we lost 2-0 at Leicester to Hillingdon the same season in the FA Trophy final?

Described as a 'young giant'.
Which is quite funny really as his son Craig was a red dwarf.

I wasn't to be born for another 15 years but even I know it was the semi-final.

Correct .. what a disappointing trip that was to the old filbert street. Mind you we’ve had a few down the years …

Anyway, I think Charles may also have got four against Chelmsford one fine evening.

Indeed having scored another 4 against Newport County in midweek (HSC game) - that was then 15 goals scored in his last 6 games..............

There was a BBC Midlands quiz programme that he appeared in once. He didn't want to be drawn on the date that the Old House was built but plumped, reluctantly, in the end for "about 1918." I think.

That's why we got six in every game.

That's why we got six in every game. Unlike the days in which Ray Daniel played as a solitary centre-half (number 5) aided by two half-backs (4 & 6) and two full-backs (2 & 3). Didn't get six in every game then but the football was usually very entertaining. Oh for the days when former international players 'dropped down the leagues' to earn a crust before leaving the game.

McCall, McIntosh, Vale and Timms fairly regularly. Daniel was a great player. Played up front when he felt like it, too. Edwin Holliday......

But in all fairness JC could slot into the centre half position at any time he wanted to - and do a better job of course - so now and again even JC preferred 3 at the back!

Either him and one other or the other two together.

Anyone saying Martin Foyle wouldn't play Jarrod Bowen is a contemptible liar.
