Not going to start a poll as there has already been one.
I am really struggling to see the point in rebranding the club at this time. Even if the club’s figures are incorrect (£30k) and the Bring Back United figure of £10k is more accurate, what is the value for money here? It’s an awful lot of work for the club office, isn’t going to put a single extra bum on a seat and strikes me as a fairly meaningless nod to the past.
can anyone give me a single good reason to restore United. I think we can probably all accept that it’s to all intents and purposes the same club. Without the debts…

No - I can't give you a good reason. Let's just leave it as it is. As I've said before.

It isn't Hereford united and never will/should be. Same city, same ground, same kit, same fans and probably the same expectations. The only thing that's changed is the level we're playing at bit even that's only temporary.

It will never be the same club without Harry Agombar, so no 'United' for me. Seriously though, I see he's started a managerial career now.

I'm genuinely going to blow up a part of your football club if you have the indecency to try to call it Hereford United.

I think that if it doesn't change you'll find a lot more people than you think start to question whether it is the same club after all. The way the club approached it last time put quite a lot of bitterness about.
Also think it's very naïve not to think we'd sell considerably more Hereford United merch next season if we change name rather than if we don't. We sold £260k in the first HFC season and I believe have likely hardly pushed £50k/year since 2018 (last season under Caddis aside).

They're not considered separate clubs with more than one lot of history. Newport being a good example near me.

Glad this is finally happening. Even if it is 5 years too late!
I'll be honest I don't understand any of the people who are against returning to our rightful name: - It wont cost the club any money (see the second motion they proposed) - It will likely lead to increased commercial opportunities for the club - It'll help right some of the wrongs committed by Agombar et al - When we had the vote on backing the Hale proposal in 2015 it was the general consensus that FC was a temporary name until we could use United - It gets rid of the ridiculously tinpot FC suffix we currently have (it doesn't even stand for Football Club, we're literally registered as FC) - It won't mean we suddenly incur the debt of the old club or have to pay the ex-forum member who set up a company to try and block the name change as I've seen some people spouting on facebook this week - The benefactors vote is irrelevant as far as I am concerned. Let's have the fan vote then worry about their opinions. My view though is that any shareholder who votes against the supporters' wishes to be United is not welcome at ES. The club is the fans not the shareholders. All the benefactors are Hereford United supporters so I have no doubt they'd vote with the supporters' wishes. They're also business people so will realise the benefits to the club
Judging by what I've seen at matches it seems most of our core match going support want United back. What's surprised me most is the number of young supporters who won't have known HUFC (or didn't for a long period) who want to see us return to United. They're the ones who will be supporting us for the next 60+ years so I'm glad they also want this change.
At the end of the day we've always been United, we're still the same club (just not the same legal entity) with the same kit, same bull, same ground, same motto, same supporters etc
I don't see any of you complaining about Newport, Darlo, Leeds, Chesterfield, Merthyr, Macclesfield, Bury, Rangers etc using their old names. Don't see their fans complaining either.
The name change will only be positive for our club so the sooner it is done the better. To quote the chant that we'll no doubt hear from the ME today "Bring Back United"!

When explaining which team I support, I usually find myself saying; "Hereford, we used to be called Hereford United but the club went bust and had to re-form and we are not allowed to use the old name for about five years so we are now just called Hereford FC".
I would rather just say; "Hereford United".
I really don't think most people even realise that we are no longer HUFC.
HUST is short for Hereford United Supporters Trust so that seems to be a bit of a contradiction as well.
Anyway, I have to say that I don't really look too deeply into the history except to say that the three clubs that joined together to form HUFC are still considered to be a part of 'our' history so I don't really see why the transformation of HUFC to HFC should be different.

Some of those on here arguing against don’t even support the club. I wonder if the did the same when Newport changed back? 🫤
Nearly everyone else in the country thinks of us as Hereford United so bring it on and Bring Back United. The job ain’t finished until that happens.

United and always has been. I find the views against returning to the club's original and rightful name quite bizarre and bitter to be honest.
As stated before, a limited company went bust - the football club has existed in it's current place for 100 years.
I would be extremely disappointed if this motion is voted down. The boost for the club at an already comparative high point would be huge. Bring back UNITED.
