My next clue was but Hereford FC have played there which would have been leaving the ball dangling off the cross bar like a coconut. They had a meteoric rise like Salford and rebuilt a similarly very non league ground. Leaving this intact...

Why have pylons why not install them on the roof of the student accommodation ?

Why have pylons why not install them on the roof of the student accommodation ? But that would leave the Meadow End in darkness!

Why have pylons why not install them on the roof of the student accommodation ? We can convert the student rooms into executive boxes on match days. Like they do with those cricket ground hotels.

I remember some ginger nuts dangling off Wembley's crossbar in 1977, after Scotland's 2-1 victory.

"Musco has designed the pitch lighting to levels that are suitable for non-professional games in accordance with BS EN 12193" Yes, I read that yesterday and thought it a bit strange.

I appreciate you were all stoned in the 1960s but there is clearly a H&S issue there.

I appreciate you were all stoned in the 1960s but there is clearly a H&S issue there. Versus Cardiff on 4 February 1976 - the (in)famous game when their lot were on the roof of the ME dangling their DMs over the edge. (Also the night when our yoof were firing arrows at their coaches on the Belmont roundabout - check your Hereford history.)
Me, and a still anonymous mate, decided to roll a few Blue Peters* and jokingly said, "We'll have one on the way to the ground, one at half-time, and one each time we score."
I think we were about three up by half-time and went on to win 4-1. We were still slumped in the dark at the top of the ME when they switched the floodlights off. (Thread relevance.) An hour or so later (probably about 11.30) we managed to smuggle ourselves out of the ground.
The return match, midweek in April, was played in front of 35,000 - still a 3rd tier record?
NB young'uns. Unlike a six foot seven lecturer at Cambridge University, what we did was not big or clever. Just say no.
*Blue Peter - one I made earlier.

Yes did both Cardiff games in 1976. Slaughtered them at ES but lost away after John Layton had a goal disallowed. Didn’t matter promotion awaited at Walsall next game. I think record third tier attendance record is 49k for the Sheffield derby around 1980, Villa v Bournemouth in 1972 did 48k.

Just piecing together the construction of the Len Weston stand in my mind. It would appear that it was largely built during the close season before entering the league?
It was quite a quick thing to erect I would imagine due to being largely built using precast concrete. It was still being completed in October by the looks.
Now a 1970s building site was a completely different animal to a current one, but did they manage to use it at the start of that season? Or the terrace at least? I am thinking the Reading and other early games.

I've got a feeling that was the game when the Police Alsatian went into the Cardiff mob ?

Just seen the Bulls News article regarding the Blacfriars End and leaving the old pylons up. Just looked on Google earth. Didn't realise how far they are from the pitch? Will be fascinating to see how they sort the two ME corners, especially the Radfords corner as it looks like it will be during the season.
