Bickering like a bunch of old women. You can't say that anymore. You have to say like a bunch of ladies of experience.

Believe ladies also has to be replaced with a very very very long list of words in the current climate. I also have to ask, am I on social media at this moment in time?

If you were really hawkeyed, you'd have noticed in my post from yesterday that it was a measly 42% turnout. 😂 My bad. I read it but it didn't register. I am chastened. 😢 Now you've cleared that up for me it smacks a teeny bit of the theory that 10% of feck all is feck all. One wonders why the great British populace is so reluctant to turn out to vote upon things such as who represents us in parliament, and what system we should use to determine who they might be. Is it laziness? Ignorance? Lack of will? Yes!

This thread's got tasty. It'll give me and ECB something to talk about on Friday night when we paint the town "puke yellowish green".

As I say, there is insufficient money and not enough talent available to make any meaningful change. Reeves has very little financial headroom and any significant change will take more than the length of this Parliament to show any positive effect. We will see lots of spin and window dressing, but nothing of substance, so not much change to what the last Government was doing. My expertise is in housing and for all that Labour’s plans on housing supply are needed, the only way we will see a significant increase in affordable housing is by the use of private money. The existing publicly owned landlords (Councils) or subsidised private providers (Housing Associations) have no financial capacity to build more homes at the scale needed; all of their resource is going into building safety work and improvements to existing stock to meet consumer standards. The Government simply can’t afford to finance the extra homes needed, so will rely on private investors - like pension funds and life funds. Labour recognise this and will just keep doing what the Conservatives did, with maybe a few tweaks around the edges. How do I know? Because I’ve been in the room when they have had these discussions with the senior people of the housing world. You can also be sure that the Health service will turn to private capital and resources - Streeting pretty much admitted as much. Thanks for that comprehensive reply Seven - I still think change will happen though - Rwanda being scrapped for one is a first example

Thoughts on the above.
• I think that when I started this thread in 2020 it was titled Tory Scum. (One of the right-wing cabal decided to change it.) • I divide people into two categories - those who consider being called woke as a compliment and those who take it as an insult. • Respect to North Herefordshire and shame on the 16,000 across the two local constituencies who voted for the Illinois Nazis. • Commissioner Gordon made me smile.

No politics until we finish the discussions that we failed to finish last time. That is, which tastes better, a Monkey Gland or a Salty Dog, and which one would win a fight involving a Moscow Mule and a Colorado Bulldog? Let's stay out of the cocktail bars this time.
