HUST should fold as they serve no purpose for the supporters, only the HFC board. That has been the case from the very start.

Hmmmm
“The advantage to teams is that they will play up to 60mins of football against quality opposition in a proven and successful environment. With one weekend off each month, we don't anticipate travelling to increase too significantly and feel that the positives of the players being able to get more game time under their belts over the course of the season, will aid their development."
Seems a little erroniuous to me:
Mileage for travelling St Weonards twice a week + Yate for 3 out of every 4 weekends = Significantly more than training at <for example> Pegasus then playing at Ross/Bromyard/Ledbury or Leominster.
Another attempt at trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes?

this will all be forgotten when farmerbev produces a factory line of golden nuggets, making those teenagers dreams and fill the coffers of Hereford when they are sold on to a top club

Yes, but you're forgetting the fact that away games would be in Exeter, Cardiff, Yeovil etc. every other week if it wasn't a centralised venue.

If an under 9's league needs to travel that far for a fixture, it's not fit for purpose. You'll be putting kids off before they get anywhere near a proper size pitch.

Utterly absurd, but not surprising. The modern incarnation of the football academy is highly contentious at the best of times, but frankly I'd prefer we didn't bother than make nine year-olds travel these distances.

This seems to have gone quiet. Anyone know how its all going as training started last week?
Andy Bevan said in Saturdays programme that the U13's and U16's teams will play in the MPJL ( Midlands Junior Premier League I'm guessing) as the fixture continuity wasn't great in the JPL. Does this mean that the younger age groups (U8's, 9's, 10's and 11's) are being asked to travel to Yate to play in a league that our Head of Academy already knows isn't the best?
It seems to me that the younger players/parents are being led down the route of " Come and play for the Hereford Academy, it'll only cost you an arm and a leg but you'll play in a poorly run set up and league for your hard earned cash " scenario.

Apart from hosting the U18's in their floodlit league we (Wellington) expect to host a couple of the middle age group teams for their competitive matches. By the end of August we will have two full size 11 v 11 pitches (1 floodlit), a small size (U14-U16) 11 v 11 pitch, a 9 v 9 pitch, two 7 v 7 pitches and two 5 v 5 pitches....all on grass and less than 5 miles from town.

You may be on to something. I heard a whisper that the HFC - Peggy marriage is on the rocks.

It's a very pleasant retirement occupation. Not quite so keen on the line-marking as it involves walking. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Other than the parents, who's funding that lot?

All the pitches are on land either owned or held in trust for Wellington FC. The maintenance thereof is done entirely by volunteers. WFC have no involvement with any charges made on the young players.

Well, that would be a shame as I believe it's important to retain connections with all local clubs at Herefordshire Premier and above.
