Home games for 18’s we’re hoping to be at Wellington other ages will potentially play there as well plus we will be using Vikki Park & Burghill Andy Bevan on Twitter. So what’s all this Yate crap about? Dont ask me. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

I thought the academy teams were playing their games at Victoria park in previous years? I know some academy teams were training at Wellington FC/Hereford Academy High School last year but of course that was before Mr Bevan became involved so I guess this my change with the new regime. If teams are playing home games at Bristol, I dread to think where away games might be!! Seems a bit rich to expect parent to travel all that distance at their own expense when there are plenty of suitable pitches at numerous locations around HFDS Trai Ining is at Mr Bevans place this year. I can’t comment on pervious years as I don’t know. Home games are in Yate. So what's all this Yate crap about?

If that’s true then it definitely changed in the last 2 weeks. A friends son was accepted into the under 11s and was told at the time the offer of a place was made that home matches would be in Yate.

Thats right, u8-u11 will play at Yate. U12-U18 will be based in Hereford.
I know of many parents who weren't aware of this (and other costs) at the trial/signing stage

This needs clearing up, soon. I know that these pages are scrutinised by the lanyardista, and the new chairman is clearly aware of the ‘open and transparent’ PR that comes out of ES, so come on Mr Graham.
It’s time to call this out as mischief making, or to justify it.

Still no word on the matches being played in Yate? Utterly bizarre if true! Still Academy related but on a different topic, how do the club expect to get the best players in when they charge roughly twice as much per child as other clubs in Herefordshire? Surely you are going to just get the players whose parents can afford it rather than the best players? Do they give free scholarships out to talented players from poorer families? £50 a month is a substantial amount for a lot of people to pump into their kid's hobby, never mind potentially having to drive a 20 mile round-trip to training & then to Yate to watch them play! A brilliant discussion here on BT Sport about Academies: www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_tW7xwLdw8Interesting to hear that the likes of Brentford & Huddersfield were looking to close theirs.

under 9's will play friendly matches locations TBC
Under 10's and 11's will play at a cental venue, I assume this has been organised by the Junior Prem League (JPL) and not the club therefore to play a good standard of football they will have to travel to Yate. No mention fo how long so this may be to sort the teams into ability so they can place each team into the correct ability league?
Under 12 upwards will continue to play in the JPL leagues & cup competitions home and away
What is concerning is as well as parents paying £50 signing on fee, £45, £50 per month (depending on age), they have to fund their own transport and pay for the HFC basic travel kit £150 or £220 for the full travel kit (EACH), plus boots, shin pads, boot bags etc. Must be difficult for some parents to find the money, especially if they have 2 children in the academy system! OUCH

It's scandalous really. Why should parents have to stump up a signing on fee? It's an Academy. Surely the players are there because the club deem them good enough & want them to be there based on their ability? They shouldn't have to pay for the privilege. So much for a community club. This is just exploiting children for profit! There will always be plenty of wealthy people willing to pay for this sort of thing, just so they can drop into conversation that their son/daughter is in the Academy system at Hereford. In truth the kids will get a similar level of coaching & stand the same chance of making it as a pro footballer, playing junior football for the likes of Pegasus, Westfields, Belmont, Leominster, Ross etc. It will cost a lot less too!

It is purely a money making exercise. The previous clubs local players included Emery Feeley Philips Price Bowen were few and far between. Isn’t that the whole point? If you can help a few players along the way even better.

This is turning into a bit of a farce by the seems of it. As I said in an earlier thread its not Hereford FC Academy, its Andy Bevan's set up just playing under the banner of Hereford FC. Bevan has moved the lads from his set up over or given them the opportunity to move across at a lot of expense to the parents. Extortianate signing on fee's, lots of expense on kits and the fact that they have to travel to Yate to play their matches.
If I was a parent of a kid in the academy for the money they are paying I would want quality coaches teaching them not coaches that Andy Bevan has had over at 'The Ranch'!!!!

Regardless of the rights and/or wrongs of these decisions, this is a PR disaster for HFC. They should be seen to be investing in youth football, and not using it as an additional source of income, which is how it will be interpreted by many. If MC Wotsit was doing his job properly, he should have foreseen the potential bad publicity that this would bring to our club. There is still time to rethink this. Imagine 5 years from now, when a youngster is snapped up, by a Championship side, from any of the other local sides, having been forced away from the ES training scheme for financial reasons? This Forum would be on fire.

So tell me, why did we get rid of UITC again?
And by what criteria should we measure the success of the new set up?

Really is time for Mr Graham to come clean over this. Or if not, then the academy secretary. If he’s allowed/able to.

So tell me, why did we get rid of UITC again? And by what criteria should we measure the success of the new set up? Because it was functioning perfectly well without any ‘help’ from Lanyardovia. And they don’t like that sort of thing. Maybe it was all about the money.
