I get the impression that you think you are being witty, but also, you secretly know you don't have a clue what's going on, or what you are on about. Right? Haven't got a clue, does anyone, really?

We have been left a multitude of clues, actually, if you bothered to pay attention. But, as you were...

It seems the forum hierarchy are happy that they all know who each other and are and are not willing to divulge that information to the majority of signed up members of this forum. It seems that the forum Admin/mods take the view that most members are happy with that, and since the silent majority of members do not seem unhappy then the hierarchy will not divulge requested information to members not in the loop. To me this seems no different to the setup of HFC/HUST arrangement. I find it odd that a similar thread on the last forum about transparency within HFC continued to well over 50 pages, many posters of whom were part of this forum setup. At risk of turning this into an on-line slag fest, I'll drop the subject for now since I have nothing more to add. Personally, I think it sends the wrong message out but everyone is entitled to their views. Time to stop posting from me for now. Good luck with the forum. Have a thick skin as I'm sure you will get a few PITA's (myself included) I would hope that the silent majority feel empowered enough to express their own opinions on the subject. This forum is all about open discussion, after all. So, please don't feel that you need to stop posting on the subject. As you say, everyone is entitled to a view and yours is as valid as anybody's. If I am to continue as moderator, an important part of that role is to ensure that everyone feels able to express an opinion, without fear of discussion being unfairly stifled. I offered to help moderate the forum mainly out of gratitude to Freetown Kudos and the SES team for getting it up and running so quickly following the unfortunate demise of Bulls Banter. Certainly not out of any desire to pull any strings. I'd be more than happy if my powers of moderation were never employed at all. * I disagree with the accusation of hypocrisy. It would have been the easiest thing in the world to use separate login credentials from which to monitor the forum and only wheel out JD when I want to misbehave. As things stand, I and the other forum moderators will be taking an active role in forum discussion, employing the personas we have, in many cases, employed for several years over various iterations (Hi Grayham) of the forum. The views expressed will be 100% our own and of no more significance or weight than anyone else's. If you can't be content with the level of disclosure we have been permitted to make (ie identities, contact details and social media profiles submitted for scrutiny by forum Administrator), you must at least acknowledge that this makes us considerably more transparent and, therefore, accountable than the mode of administration used on BB. I never had a problem with the moderation of BB until the last few weeks. I didn't care who was doing the actual admin/moderation and still don't. It was the way that decisions were suddenly being made unilaterally, unfairly and without explanation in recent weeks with which I had a problem. Hopefully, you can see that, at least in intent, this forum is a little different. We're not using a faceless central account from which to make pronouncements (or not). You can see who we are (within the narrow confines of the forum, at least) - just regular cockwombles, like the rest of you - and I hope we will always be as upfront as possible with any decisions that are made. I know I will be. My offer to step down still stands, deferred until such a time as sufficient numbers of registered members and the admin/moderation team feel that my preference for relative anonymity compromises my position as a moderator. Like I said before, no biggie for me at all. It is worth considering how this discussion might have been handled in the last few weeks of BB. Rather than simply banning you for attempting to discover the identity of a forum moderator, and deleting any threads that contain potentially compromising information, we've had a discussion out in the open, on the main forum, to which everybody has had the opportunity to contribute and the forum Administrator has announced a decision that appears to favour the general consensus. Even if you disagree with that decision, I hope you can understand it - as I understand, and to a certain degree, sympathise with your opinion - and the door remains open for further discussion. * Although I concede that I had some fun with the swearybags filter last night.

Absolutely on board with JD's post above.
I've been out all day (doing stuff that doesn't involve being on the internet I'm afraid) to find this thread. It appears that my failure to send a PM to a complete stranger giving my name, Twitter details and FB details is in some way hypocritical (let's leave aside the issue of being unaware of the demand until an hour or so ago). To do so would open up many things about me (and my family ) to scrutiny that, frankly is quite unwarranted and, bluntly, unneccessary. I offered to assist (it is a voluntary role after all) for many of the same reasons as JD and others. I've been a regular poster on BB for years, have outed myself on more than one occasion, and, in any event my identity is probably known to many on here. It would take no more than five minutes to discover it for anyone with too much time on their hands.
For what it's worth, my FB settings are private (my job means that I do not open up info about my family to clients and their mates)and my Twitter feed usually revolves around Ministry of Justice feckwittery.
and my enhanced CRB check is perfectly fine.

A fair reply Jonny. I hope you realise I'm not here to judge anyone on here, it's just with all the cloak and dagger stuff going on from BB I thought it would be good to clear the decks, create some openness and gain the moral high ground. I don't doubt anyone's commitment and FTK's work on SEG deserves a medal. I just want the truth like anyone else here, and waiving anonymity shows that people are committed to find that out. I would speculate that the smoking gun left from the demise of BB shows that things weren't right there. I hope it doesn't repeat itself here any time soon.
During that last few months I have been thoroughly uninterested with BB due to the all the speculative comments from various factions. I find it difficult to take those views seriously unless poeple are prepared to back them up. Waiving anonymity strengthens the argument. I not saying I don't believe some of the views that held on BB, I just find them not worthy of the attention they deserve if they are being dished up from the shadows.

I not saying I don't believe some of the views that held on BB, I just find them not worthy of the attention they deserve if they are being dished up from the shadows. Of course - no worries. Like I say, to some extent, I share your view. My view is that, as long as the moderators/admin are operating impartially and in plain sight - which is very much the intention - retaining (relative) anonymity is not an issue, but I am happy to agree to disagree on that score. As soon as the consensus sees this as a problem, I will ban my own ass. I didn't want to moderate, or even join a new forum at all, I wanted Bulls Banter to be moderated fairly, but the most recent administrator has, apparently decided to shut the forum down, rather than account for his/her own strange behaviour in recent weeks. In FACT I stated on BB that I would not join a new forum unless I knew and trusted the administrators involved. I can appreciate the irony in such a statement, given the nature of this discussion, but FWIW, I wouldn't have offered to help moderate this one if I had any doubts. If a restored version of Bulls Banter appeared again tomorrow, with an accountable, impartial and - yes - anonymous administrator, I'd be utterly content to sign back up and hang up the moderator's whimple for good, and just go back to posting silly pictures and repeating forum in jokes for my own amusement. Everyone, as they say, should have a goal. In the spirit of the new forum, I would never declare a THREAD CLOSED, in case someone else wants to chip in, but I'm more than happy to leave it at that.

If every argument resolves itself like on this thread, then this forum is going to do pretty well! Bar set pretty damn high.

I totally understand why members want to know a little bit of information about admin/moderators.
For what's it's worth I decided to change my username from 'YourHereford1' to 'StefanHFC' to include my first name.
I was far from a regular poster on Bulls Banter but did read the forum daily. My main focus was on my community Twitter/Facebook account called YourHerefordshire. As some of you will know I attended the first few games of the famous Agombar/Lonsdale season and therefore understand where some fans are coming from who didn't join the boycott. Once the first few games had passed however and it became obvious that bills weren't getting paid I soon joined the boycott and really pushed the campaign on social media alongside plenty of others.
The reason I offered to become moderator on this forum is because I have plenty of experience with running forums similar to this (Don't worry, one of them wasn't Bulls Banter!) and I felt that my experience especially with proboards would help.
Anyway that's enough from me. I'll be in Addisons before the Coleshill match if anyone would like to ask anymore questions?

No hats or capes. We get a moderator's whimple, a badge that says "Don't mess with me. I'm a mod, right?", a book of rules, a cuddly toy LIZARD and a set of forum keys.
You have to swear an oath and sign in blood. It doesn't have to be your own.
