So what does a player at this level earn?
I really couldn't give a toss or have any idea but it's intriguing...
Obviously more at HFC than most other clubs in this league...
50 quid a week along with their day job?

I'd be surprised if the wages paid to Mills, Haysham and Willetts isn't more than the total budget for most teams in this league. But Hereford have the fan base to afford this, so why not?

Got a good mate who plays at this level. He gets expenses and a track suit!

If that's true it's shocking and partly explains some of the performances.

Simple. If they see big crowds and they are the main attraction and they aren't getting a slice of the pie they are entitled to feel disgruntled...as we subsequently do if they're de-motivated and play like cr*ap. Just a theory, not saying that's what has caused the dodgy start to the season...

Just a theory, not saying that's what has caused the dodgy start to the season... So they weren't aware of potential crowd sizes before they signed?

Seems a reasonable statement to me. It's definitely reasonable to pay our players nothing if we want amateur-night football. But we don't. If it cost me £100 quid to do a day in Heanor and I was feeling passionate about winning the game, why would the players feel as passionate as me if they're being played nothing? I can't even believe I'm having this conversation.

I Very much dought any of our players are on expenses only.

I doubted it too Maxbull, but reasonabull appeared to me to be an insider from past comments. Worrying! Equally, business is flexible. If you sign up for poxy wages based on 600 crowds and then 4,000 turn up (or even 2,000), you are going to feel like you are being short-changed. If wages were index-linked (is that the expression?) to home crowds this would eradicate the problem. You can ignore it, you can say they should be proud to wear the shirt, but this is just human nature and you ignore human nature at your peril.

Wrong way round. Players don't get paid well, they don't play well, crowds diminish.

Wrong way round. Players don't get paid well, they don't play well, crowds diminish. Most should be happy just playing football at a decent level; any money they then get for it is only a bonus! Footballers that are motivated solely by money ain't the footballers that you want at your club.
