My point about expenses was a general one for players at this level which I presumed was what the OP was getting at. Obviously there are some players at HFC who are getting payed but as to how much, well, they aren't likely to be telling all and sundry! There are enough wild guesses on here to keep us all amused!

So he came to us because? Ambition? I know what he was on at Stourport (where incidentally he was the only player getting paid anything and they are doing alright this season) and there is no chance we would be offering that sort of pay rise. Not a chance.

Wrong way round. Players don't get paid well, they don't play well, crowds diminish. Most should be happy just playing football at a decent level; any money they then get for it is only a bonus! Footballers that are motivated solely by money ain't the footballers that you want at your club. It's not that players are motivated solely by money, Castlebull, it's just that they can in some cases be de-motivated by the feeling that they are not getting what they deserve in proportion to crowd size. (Remember the England rugby team rebellion about precisely this as the game moved from amateur to pro?).

Didn't the Didcot manager say that Mills and Heysham were offered money that Didcot couldn't compete with?
Considering they came from the league above us and it was more than they could compete with we must be paying them more than expenses?

Didcot's average attendance is a little over 100, a snickers and a kitkat would be more than most clubs can afford, even at the level above.

Not a chance. Castle lad every player in that Stourport squad is on a wage, bar the youth, absolutely clueless. I think players at this level actually enjoy playing football more than anything else. I doubt you know how much Willets was on at Stourport and I imagine any guesses you'll have on how much he's on up your end will fall miles off the mark too.

We've got reports ranging from:
£0.00 per week up to £500.00 per week
So basically, no one knows.

I've no reason to doubt the people that told me; they're very heavily involved at Stourport and have been for a number of years. Many will be on expenses or win bonuses but I was told that only Jamie was on a wage. In fact they delighted in reminding me of that after we got turned over on their patch!! No idea who's on what at HFC, all I'm saying is I very much doubt Jamie is one of the highest earners - seems to be an ambitious bloke who plays football for the enjoyment and wants to see if he can make a career out of it.

Well what I do know is that Peggy don't pay anyone. they get a tracksuit, a proper coach for away games and free meals after matches. they could not compete at the Hellenic level (level 5 non league, same as us) without going semi pro.
Westfields pay and its a bit complicated, but if you are in the match squad you get paid (no contracts) and for the starting team on average its between £25 and £75 with a win bonus/tracksuits/training kit etc.
I think there may be clubs at our level who don't pay much more than expenses and a win bonus but I'm equally sure that most teams do pay, and that sides like Alvechurch, Sporting Kalassa are reputed to have bigger budgets than us.
I don't know our wages, but knowing that strikers get a premium and that they have come from a higher level I'd say Mills and Heysham are our best paid. The stuff about a free room before home games sounds iffy to me.
I guess that Purds, Jamer, Joel and Willets are in the next bracket.

All this nonsense about sides like Sporting Khalsa and Alvechurch having bigger budgets than us is exactly that, nonsense. They may well have set bigger budgets than us. Ours is said to be on the prudent side, compared to projected income.

Ours is said to be on the prudent side, compared to projected income. Ours is said to be based on an average attendance of 600 I believe, meaning that even with running costs etc.. taken out we should still have a comfortably bigger budget than those clubs?

Yes, we should. Saying that the budget is based on gates of 600 only accounts for the income side. As you say, once running costs and overheads are accounted for, there should be quite a bit left over for other things, including the playing budget.

One of our younger squad players is on £75 a week. So I would imagine this is the starting bracket then moving rapidly upwards as I can't see James, Mills and Purdie settling for that?

I know a lad who plays for Dunkirk gets £30 per match. I think it's safe to assume our lot are on proper part time wages - a few maybe more.
