In the 1970s when we scored a goal everyone used to sing: "Nun-nun-nah, nun-nun-nah, nun-nun-nun-nun-nun-nah-nah, nun-nun-nah-nah-nun-nah nah,nah-nah." I think a negative attitude towards nuns is absolutely disgusting, looking back, and I'm deeply ashamed.

Either way, whether it be right or wrong, I think we can all agree that "get your tits out for the lads" is a shit chant. Thread nailed. For what it's worth, I just thought the chant was pathetic. Not funny, not clever, and, given some of the recent offerings from the Meadow End (The Lonsdale Sat Nav one was excellent), barely worthy of 0.000001/10 Agreed. And no rules applied either. DISGRACE

But it was fine for people in the bar the season before last to sing "I've got a foreskin haven't you, fecking Jew." Do me a favour.

Yup. Didn't think people would queue up to acknowledge that incident, ignored by a director. If we're going to tackle "isms," we'd better be very sure we tackle all of them.

Without naming names (although you probably should) can you expand on that?

Those who were there in the bar for the London derby after the game know exactly what I'm talking about. (Ronnie Radford spoke above later). So does the director. So does Lee Simmonds, who received the formal complaint. And the response? "Said director has been to Auschwitz." Well I'm not saying said director fits into this category, but a lot of fascists have been to Auschwitz too and loved it. So let's tackle this on a number of fronts if we're going to tackle it. And by the way, I was friends with a girl who had breast reduction because she received so many comments, to don't think I don't have some sympathy in that area. But Hereford football pretending to be politically correct is like Andy Lonsdale pretending he loves Hereford football.

The bit I get confused with is the crowd at a football match, in general, will be singing/shouting "wan*er" "fat b*stard" etc to an oposing player and there is no mention of that being abuse, the majority of ladies now want equality so why should it be abuse as she was female? Or was it because they used the words tit's? You're still not quite getting it. Shouting abuse at players or officials is usually as a result of their shit skill or shit decisions. It's part of the experience. Last night their number two got rightly booed because he Hancockted Pablo in the face. But the difference with what happened to their physio was she got abused and objectified simply because she was a woman. If she'd fu.cked up the magic sponge then fair game. But she didn't. She had breasts, that's all. The virgins in the Meadow End thought this was a green light for acting like dickheads.

north london derby in bar by centre circle (addison's? always get confused between the two) early evening kick-off, night Ronnie Radford spoke above. Either last home game or penultimate. I was propping up bar and turned to stare them down every time they sang it and my reward was to be challenged by the door for not letting one of them (30 years my junior) in first. Look, don't pretend you don't know about it. Loads of people know about it.

Sorry, I missed the RR reference - and do bear in mind that I have been away from Hereford for the best part of 25 years..
I sort of guessed the Spurs/Arsenal bit but hadn't made the connection to ES.
As someone who is one sixteenth Jewish (my paternal great, great grandmother was Lithuanian Jewish) I wish I had been there.

The bar was packed. I considered packing in supporting Hereford that night. Then thought my 40 years (dipping in and out, admittedly) of support were worth more than their 20 years (or less) of being on the planet in a prejudiced, moronic state.

I find skillism a nasty trait

Ghostrunner, thanks for your insightful response (albeit a tad sanctimonious) and assessment of my character, as with the previous comments that resorted to personal insults, I will consider it, laugh at it and ignore it !! If you bothered to read anything I had said previously, you will have seen that I do not partake in such juvenile chanting, didn't in the 80's and don't now. The only difference is I don't choose to get my knickers in a twist about something so trivial and blow everything out of proportion. I also choose not to assume offence on others behalf I will leave that to those that are the focus of the comments to decide whether they are offended, they are more than capable of doing so and to suggest otherwise is sexist in the extreme. I too have two daughters and I'm sure they would be equally irritated by the notion that they are not able to make a judgement for themselves. I'm sure they would also be level headed enough to see things for what they are,and not rely on a middle aged man to tell them what they should and should not be offended by and what they should and should not consider sexist. I hope that all those that are up on their high horses will analyse and critique all of the other chants the have been sung in recent times, a certain one about Peter Beadle springs to mind where wives are being offered to the manager as though they are objects that are owned, I think we all know the one I'm talking about, funny how we've never had a thread about that, or is it the selective offence kicking in again !! Many apologies for what you perceived as sanctimony and for my cheeky reference to you holding prehistoric attitudes! As you stated to me 'if you bothered to read what I wrote' - just to clarify, I didn't accuse you of partaking in said disgusting chants, nor have I jumped to the defence of anyone. I starting of commenting on this thread to state that I find the chant offensive. I had no intention of speaking for others. I'll leave this one alone now, apologies again to RGRB.

IF you think anti-semitism is sane, it's a mad thread. Another "candidate" I won't be voting for.
