Let's hear about your favourites.
When I was a boy, I longed for a half of "Double Diamond", my old man always looked like he really enjoyed that first chug of his pint.
My first, "Bass Original", off the pump in The Old Court I Whitchurch. Oooooooooo, I could do a pint of that right now.

Come to think of it, I believe it was originally 'Cheltenham Pale Ale', otherwise known as 'Chelt', before the Cheltenham & Hereford Breweries company* was acquired by Whitbread.
*The Hereford brewery was where Tesco is now in Bewell Street, next door to British Canners.
It seems odd to think that Whitbread no longer have any involvement in brewing. Since they sold Costa Coffee to Coca Cola, all they own now is the Premier Inn hotel chain.
What a mad world.

I remember 'Nick the pop man' from Hereford, he used to deliver Corona pop and booze in Ross every Friday, my grandad always used to buy 4 bottles of Dandelion and Burdock and, a crate of Davenport Pale Ale, probably my first taste of alcohol, early eighties.

He used to deliver as far as Crockers Ash, but wouldn't venture on to The Doward. The deprevation me and my brother endured was pure torture. That's why he's like he is now!!!!

To be fair, they're weren't many people who would've ventured on to The Doward in those days.

I used to do the bottling in a pub on a Saturday morning as a kid. These are the ones that I remember in a bottle. English Ale - that was quite strong I think. I also remember (not really beers) Gold Label, Cherry B (same size bottles) Babycham, Crocadillo??
It is also a mystery how beer got invented, although I appreciate that everyone had to drink it back in the day as it was the only way of drinking something relatively safe, however in more modern times the first time you try beer as a kid it is minging.
I remember nicking a bit of Guinness to try. I wasn't impressed.
Cider as a kid however - now you are cooking!
Although I remember making cider lollies in them moulds as a kid. We used strongbow. We were expecting them to be like the cider lollies off the ice cream van.

I just remember a pump handle with two massive "D's" attached to it. One yellow and one orange if my recollection serves me!

I'm presuming that was the one started by the father of Alfred Watkins?
