It seems then that when he’s good, he’s very ,very good but when he’s bad he’s awful. Anyone who was at Chester will know that we were just awful with not much prospect of things improving. With Slade there may be some hope so I’ll take that. The fear for me was that we would appoint another manager from a league or two below , perhaps the Weston super mare boss or Long? from Alvechurch. There can be no doubt that for a Conference North club this is a very big name Manager and I’m delighted with it. The Board needed to raise it’s game massively and it seems to me that by making this appointment they are certainly trying to.

Unfortunately Blagger Harris is still hanging around the club like a bad smell. Can't he take the hint and Feck off? There's no role for him here now.

Sorry, silly me.
Perhaps he has evidence who Munsley is. Would that keep him in his job?

Yep.
He picked the team last Monday too.
That went well.
Edit. Since I posted that, it has occurred to me that tomorrow will be a bit like Fred Bloggs saying to Michel Roux "There you go. I picked the ingredients. It's up to you to produce an award winning dish from what's available. With all your experience, I'm sure you'll manage".
Masterchef?

Mmmm, can't say that I share the enthusiasm as I feel that his best days are behind him. Hopefully he will prove me wrong & I will squirm with major embarrassment at the end of this season as we win this league with a record no of points, etc., or smash the play-offs, or I've just thoroughly enjoyed watching us play and I am reminded of this post. Any of those 3 will do nicely but the 3rd would be especially welcome, pretty please. One point in his favour though IMO is that he's been around the block enough to tell Blagger 'Arris where to go [& soon please].

It seems to me very unlikely, no interviews having taken place, that the appointment actually involved the Board at all. "I know Slade. Will give him a ring." "£1600, shag?" "Ok." "Cheers".

Like Russel Slades comment that the squad has "some talent" not exactly a ringing endorsement

One thing for sure after today’s game he knows what he’s up against. Would think he will be on the phone tonight looking for replacements

Impressed with his post match interview talking about a practice match before next league match , what about against either under 14's or under 16'because lets be honest thats about that's about the only midfield are gutless, spineless clueless midfield (exception Maye ) could compete with and I wouldn't bet my mortgage on that either.

Also mentioned bringing more players in - on today's showing I expect he'll go into the loan market.

He mentioned if not a practice match this Saturday coming then one the next Saturday. Have we got enough players to send to Guiseley if we do that?

Good work, Colin. The kingmaker. Colin was absolutely nothing to do with it!

Having studied his Wikipedia page, I notice that Slade has failed to gain promotion with any side that he has managed. Not great going in a 20-plus year career! He does seem to be someone who clubs turn to when they find themselves in the mire though & his track record of avoiding relegation is pretty good. A lot will depend on how long the board are prepared to give him to turn things around & challenge at the top of the table. Would they be willing to wait two or three years?
