" The bottom line is that Agombar and Lonsdale remain a wonderful diversion" Yep, that's the thing some people are failing to grasp. The point is that neither HUST nor the Hale group had any real interest taking the club off Keyte's hands and willingly allowed the club to be sold to Agombar. That is when the bullet hit, the rest was just people standing around waiting for the club to bleed out. Very, very sad that none off us did anything to try and resuscitate the patient. Keyte refused to sell to HUST under any circumstances. Too many posters trying to rewrite history on this thread. I'm going to discard your post SOCRATES because you still haven't got over the 3-2 defeat to us in '82. Yes, I know you were better than us but brother PAOLO was immense that day. Stronzo!

Why did Agombar not pay ( come up with) the Conference Bond? No boycott that period . Comments Mr P ? Because to have paid would have meant at least another season being unsustainable. Why bother when it was only going to lead to further losses with, probably, a relegation at the end of it? Far better to go down to a level that should have been sustainable and build from there. Interestingly it appears that the Southern League Premier seems to be the sustainable level. (on the assumption that the current policy is that the playing side of the club is financed from ticket sales). Presumably the idea 💡is that MC WOTSEE will be developing the off field activities sufficiently to build a WARCHEST to mount a real challenge in three years time (assuming that relegation is staved off). Mousemat anyone?

That announcement was met with the derision it deserved. Why announce a "Man of the Match" anyway in such circumstances? (Yes, I know; sponsorship w@nk) Thank Cliff for cider tonight. Just one thing. I was in earshot of the gobby corner of the Meadow End when that was announced. What people shout at our players is a joke. Always has been. He is a good footballer - just not good enough for this level. People telling him to f*nk off as if he has been doing something underhand. Yeah he looked pretty crap today, but so did most of them. No.11 looked a bit better than most of the others. Yes, I take your point. Shouting vitriolic abuse at any player (or anyone, come to that) is unacceptable, in my opinion. My issue was more to do with this "Man of the Match" announcement thing when the team has under-performed to the point of embarrassment. It's bound to result in widespread derision, irrespective of the player receiving the "award". It's probably best to keep it quiet. I can't imagine Greenslade being particularly proud of his award following yesterday's debacle. As I said. Sponsorship w@nk.

While I'm here, whoever it was that dragged up the "two-level demotion" comment needs to think about what they're suggesting. It was exactly what was required. Had HUFC not struggled for several seasons to survive financially at that level? Why do you think staying at Conference National level was suddenly going to be sustainable? Do you not realise that the very same outcome would have happened had the wonderful Hale click got their hands on it before Agomber (the new company was already registered before Agombar arrived)? What sort of squad do you think the Hale mob might have assembled for Conference National with their 800-gate budget? Wakey wakey. Of course Conference level was (and is) sustainable for a club of our size. We spent several seasons finishing in 17th place in the old division four with crowds that struggled to reach 2,000. The crowds in that final Conference season were sh1te because the football Foyle had us playing was sh1te. And the only sub-1,000 crowd we had was on a winter Tuesday night when it clashed with an England match.

I know you've dug yourself the biggest hole in human history but seriously when are you going to give this up. The absolute crap and lies you tell almost on a weekly basis is utterly unbelievable. Have you never come across an asset stripper before? The sad reality is that you really aren't that stupid but you let yourself be taken in because you couldn't face losing the club. I know this because I felt exactly the same. I wanted to believe almost anything if it meant that there was just small chance the club would survive. But in our last days and even now ffs you have the nerve to come on here and tell us that they really weren't that bad and that the club could have survived with them in charge. What's more is that you worked with them and allowed them to get away with it. For what's it worth I know people who worked in the office and never got paid. I still have the messages to prove it. But if anyone is to blame more for the club dying it is you. You stood by and allowed those crooks to run it into the ground. Any last chance of some one coming in with money to save the day was completely ruined the moment they took charge. I do hope that the soup money will keep you going for a few more years though. It was all worth it I'm sure. You just don't seem to have the intelligence to grasp that the demise of Hereford United is down to the people of Herefordshire. It has nothing to do with Tommy Agombar. He is a very convenient excuse. Think it through.

It is one of Jammo's worst ever posts. And that includes the political stuff. Shame, as a decent poster with regards to on-field events.

1. It wouldn't have taken anything like £1m. Nowhere near. 2. By allowing Hereford United (1939) Limited to be wound up (which was inevitable once the boycott held firm), the 250 year lease (the most valuable asset the club had by far) went. Just like that. 3. We're nowhere near the endgame yet. Which is explained in 2. above. I fell for it. Hook, line and sinker. Fool me once.... The bottom line is that Agombar and Lonsdale remain a wonderful diversion. The fall guys if you like. Of course, they were here for one thing. It's not rocket science, and, bluntly, they're "business men" (not very good ones as they got sold a pup). Just bear in mind that rich men with money to throw at setting up a football club (not bankrolling it as the club clearly has to be self sufficient-much more difficult at the current level) are generally rich for a very good reason. And that's rarely altruism. It's not helpful to argue on here about the particular approach anyone on here took in 2014. Fact is that the vast majority of those who post on here were fans of Hereford United, and the vast majority of those are fans of Hereford FC. We are where we are. Sadly. That is a top post sir! My thoughts exactly. It was that good I have actually logged in to say so!

I'm saying that nobody from these parts offered anything. £200,000 was all that was required. Four mystery persons soon stumped that up between themselves to play at the same level as Westfields.

I knew this mess would happen at some point, but I didn't think it would occur so soon. I knew the level we're at now would be the level that we wouldn't get promoted from at the first attempt, but didn't think it'd be the point at which we completely go to #@&t instantly, and find ourselves in a crisis a couple of months before Christmas. The board always seemed out of their depth, but that gets masked when you're playing in pub leagues. Now we're up against proper football clubs with people who know how to run a club, their ineptitude really stands out. I wonder what it would be like if Hale, Eynon, Langford, Williams were still involved? I guess they saw the writing was on the wall, and didn't want their name's attributed to the inevitable failure. They're still very responsible for this though.
People would've accepted consolidation, maybe a shot at a playoff place, in our first season at this difficult level. However, relegation would be an absolute disaster for the future of this young club. They've created this monster, where all the fans have been spoilt with success. They've also created this situation where those fans are now in a situation that they can't handle. People don't know how to deal with mediocrity anymore, and those that are responsible for HFC existing are to blame for that.
The positive is that the benefactors £250,000 investment has been sat in a bank account earning interest, presumably for a rainy day such as this, when the club needs a serious shot in the arm. Now's the time boys.

But it wasn't just £200,000, was it? Your mate Keyte said himself back in March 2014 that the club needed £300,000 just to complete the Conference season, so presumably another couple of hundred grand would be needed to see us through the summer into the next season. He also said that "auditors have warned of 'significant doubt' as to whether the club can carry on." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/26627401Add to that the fact the club was loosing thousands every week and that many fans had given up on the club altogether, I reckon you'd be looking at close to a million to save the old club. You can see why some felt the only option was to allow the old club to fail and start from scratch again.

Over to you, guys Shirley no option. They wouldnt want the club to fail on their watch.

No real fan would ever think that way. wellington must be getting massive crowds with all those real hereford fans no longer having a club to watch WTF have Wellington got to do with anything? Real fans work their balls off to save their club, not chuck it in the bin and get a new one. I'm ashamed to say I allowed myself to believe the propaganda, and allowed my club to die. To have done that I, along with many others, can't have ever been a true fan really.
