After today’s results it looks like Torquay and Woking will be coming down from the Conference along with Guiseley and Chester.
That means we’re destined for the Conference North. Brackley being transferred from North->South seems to make sense as they’re nearer most of the Southern teams than us. That leaves us and Gloucester (Evesham) to put one in North and one in South. Gloucester would make more sense for South as they’re more eastern and most are just as northern.
The only way we can get South is if Barrow lose to Chester and Bromley by a combined 10 goals or Woking somehow beat Dover next weekend (Dover will need a win to get a playoff spot).
Think it’s time to start learning the A49...

I hadn’t spotted them up there. If Brackley wins the playoffs and King’s Lynn/Kettering won our playoffs we’re South. Come on Brackley!!

I don’t think Brackley will have a bearing. I stand to be corrected but I think it will be the winners of our play offs who decide where we go.

That was the case when 3 Northern teams and 1 Southern team were coming down from the Conference. There have been some big changes in form recently which means it'll probably be 2 and 2.

Going in the North really worries me. How many players would stay with us? Beadle could have a problem finding part-time players to go up there when there are more centrally-situated clubs for them with less travelling. Hartpury training could be difficult too, and our away following would be reduced without the London Bulls. You can tell I live south of Hereford can't you?
Fingers crossed that it all works out either way, and that the FA doesn't move us after the original allocations and totally muck up Beadle's plans.

Plenty of step 2 players kicking around Brum.

It will undoubtedly have an impact on recruitment, but I'm not convinced that the travel is an issue. Probably just as long to travel to some of the clubs in the South (Truro, Kings Lynn) as those in the North from Hereford. Couple of long hauls in both sections, but the difference isn't really that significant. As Ex says, lots of Step 2 players in the Birmingham area. The one thing that may need to be reconsidered is the Hartpury connection.

Gloucester coped in Conference North for a few years (although they didn't challenge at the top) so whilst travel might be the biggest issue it is doable. Whether our current players could commit to that is a different matter.
My personal view is South is much easier so we should want that. Even if that means ES is my nearest ground next season I'd still prefer it to being in the North (where I'd have less than an hours drive to a lot of teams).

Not convinced Brackley would be transferred. I assume a committee ultimately decides?

Not convinced Brackley would be transferred. I assume a committee ultimately decides? Yes. The FA Leagues Committee decides. Looking at a map of all the teams you can put up a good argument for all three teams being in either league but I think on balance what is suggested in that map makes most sense.

The problem is, as always, London. Too many clubs. National league North looks more proper than the conference. Will be a tough ask to get out of there. Could be a good few years.
