I assume that projection doesn't take into account the play-offs. For example if Kettering go up with us, they'll surely go into the North which could push us into the South.
South will be a slightly different beast next year - Torquay will be in there and free-spending Billericay will go up into that division too. Although aside from I agree that it looks pretty weak, a number of the clubs that have typically done well in that division are now quite well established in the Conference (e.g. Sutton and Ebbsfleet). Our games at Wealdstone and Oxford City showed we have little to fear even with the current squad.
North will be tough with the likes of Stockport and FCUM struggling despite large support bases. Lots of travelling if we end up in there too.
From a selfish perspective I'd like to be in the South - looking at that I'd have around 15 away games within an hour or so of my house/London. I'd also love to see us beat Billericay to the title.

Please let it be north! South would be easier but after 3 seasons of no fans and poor away grounds I would just like some rivalry. Stockport, kiddy, Telford, FCUM would all be better. If it was just the top 5 for promotion then maybe south but we are more than Capable of finishing in the top 7 of either division.

South please - saves me having to drive up the A49 week after week. And it's not quite as cold (usually).

assume it's all based on current tables? in which case we go up automatically, sluff in play offs.
if kings lynn or kettering get promoted with us we'd be in the south.
there's less games, only 22 teams rather than 24, but we'd still have the closer games in midweek, so a lot of long trips on Saturdays regardless of which league we're in.
let's hope we're discussing it come end of April

South for me if we get there, some decent stadia and a lot of financially struggling sides. We should get promoted with our brand of football on better surfaces.

I wouldn’t base it on this one update. I’ve been folllowing that prediction for the last couple of months and every week until now it’s said we’d be in the South not the North.

Even if we do go into the North next season, there's always the chance (if we don't go up straight away) that we'll get moved to the South the following year. As we're borderline, there's a good chance any reshuffle would see us make up the numbers in one or the other.

As carrotcruncher pointed out, they've got Slough going up with us, but we all know that anyone can win a playoff. It is quite bizarre that our league placing could come down to who wins the playoffs in our division though.

Much of a muchness insofar as away games are concerned by the looks.
The North has plenty of teams in the Midlands and North-West which are pretty straightforward to get to from here (Hereford), though the South has Truro (I've always wanted to go to an away ground in Cornwall - closest I've got is Plymouth) and Weston, which is of course the best Seaside in the Whole Wide World, apart from Rhyl.

I see that Blyth Spartans are in the North section. Will be nice to lock horns with their players again after the Wembley shenanigans.....
Allegedly

As a Yorkshire-based Bull I'd love us to go into Conference North. The away trips are more local for me, Northern towns tend to have far more character (and better beer!) than Southern ones so there are some great days out to be had.
On the other hand, if promotion is the objective, the standard in Conference North does look to be much higher. Not only have you got ex-league teams with good support like York and Stockport, there's also some up and coming clubs with significant financial backing - Salford City being the obvious example.
I suppose it all depends on what you want most - promotion to the Conference National at the earliest opportunity or the chance to enjoy some good days out and establish some rivalries with clubs with similar ambitions to our own. Either way it'll be a significant step-up from the level we're currently at.
