Weird one.
First of all, Chester is not a footballing city. Never met anyone there who even gives a shit about them.
Secondly, that ground is shite. Middle of nowhere. Amateur set up.
Thirdly, Chester took their chances and we did nothing.
Good day in pubs. Long day.

Poor and from my view contentious goal to concede so early. We were largely the better side for the rest of the first half. Second half bar a free kick over the bar, we didn't look like scoring. I left at 3-0 but doubt I missed anything.

Chapman 7 - good save before half time. No chance for goals. Bartley 7 - looks good and comfortable on ball Hudson 6 - First goal came too easily down his side when didn't choose to go with the overlapping run. Got some decent crosses in. They fans were going mad at him for holding at every 50/50 but got away with it. Preston 6 - solid if slow decision making on ball. Howkins 7 - Impressive in the air. Lost his man for their second. Campbell 6 - Our best midfielder. Quality and time on the ball but playing just in front of our back 2 so not effective. Babos 5 - Not involved much. Think he was part of a central 3 but didn't look himself. Went close with good free kick. Texeira 2 - Dreadful. Only noticed he was playing when he moaned at ref. Physically dominated by their midfield and didn't even bother challenging for some high balls. His average ability on the ball doesn't make up for his lack of pace/tackling/heading. Needs to be shipped out. Ceesay 6 - Got round his man a couple of times and looked our only likely source of creating something. Rose 5 - Started on the right to little effect. Battles away but looked more threatening up top Williams 3 - He doesn't work as a lone striker. Physically dominated so can't hold the ball up and no pace toget behind. I think best used as a sub when the game opens up. Cowley - keen when he came in with some typical late challenges. D'ath - got stuck in and looked alright when he came on. Other subs - No impression We passed the ball around a lot in the middle third but never looked urgent to create anything. 2/3 passengers today so you're never gonna win with that. Choose a system and get the players to fit it. Looks like we are trying to find a system to suit the players we've got. Thank you for an enlightening report. Yes, Teixeira has been an embarrassment in every game bar about three in his eighteen months so far; for me his two-year contract calls the manager's assessment of players into serious question. Campbell has incredible potential but yet another needless booking when we're losing 3-0. Cowley booked within 3 minutes of his season starting.

Although colebridge closed the United thread because of "cat calling" I noticed the usual miscreant was allowed to get away with calling a fellow poster a "tool." You all know who I mean. Lightning continues to strike at least twice. You have made an assumption. You are wrong. Again. Bit like your assumption about Bairstow, then. Tut, tut.

Your words on Teixeira/Caddis are the embarrassment here wain. You either don’t understand what you are watching/assuming from another’s comments, or you knowingly write nonsense to provoke a reaction. Unless you’ve see every one of Tex’s appearances in a United shirt. Tricky for someone who doesn’t go to away matches. Happy to concur over Campbell. Needs to stop collecting cards.

I listen to away games on Hereford fc radio. It seems to me that they have a list of phrases written out to use during the match. No matter who is commenting it’s always the same phrases. This year, last year, and years before it’s always he’s over hit that , under hit that, just over his head. We don’t seem to be able to consistently pass the ball to each other. Pollock not a regular with the first team had no problems he was always slow and could not turn quickly but was not troubled yesterday. Babos has been out of sorts for a few games this season. Not the threat that he was last season. One free kick not enough in ninety minutes. Is he carrying an injury? Tex best player on the pitch last week worst this week. Why? Rose did he actually touch the ball last week for the goal? Good work rate but prefers to put it in the car park rather than the net. Willo same. Does not show his league experience enough. Not a target man needs free roaming roll in the box and not hurry his shots but place them instead. Tends to panic.

Several on television last season were sufficient. Plus every home match. (Would have gone to Westfields again, probably, if we were still playing them.) Have followed Gowling's career ever since you recommended the Guardian contributor as THE man to watch. Also noted your damning comments on Chapman; saved us from a hammering yesterday. Has your other mate Curtis Pond gone into Westerns yet?

Siri. Show me someone who is determined to make every drama about themselves…. Hello Garth.
You’re not really leaving, are you? After producing the best features in the HT for years?
I’m horrrified. There are very few people left in Britain who are in touch with earth-mysteries and can also write. I accept that there can’t be many stories left in Herefordshire’s history that you haven’t covered, but still… maybe there are some old ones you could update in the light of new discoveries and Ideas.
But, with just starting revising a new novel after nine months fighting stroke-damage, I realise we can all be stopped from doing stuff we’d like to do. At least I can finally type again.
Anyway, thanks a lot… and I'm sure our old straight tracks will cross again before too long.
All the best,
Phil (Rickman) Cheers, Timbo.

Thirdly, Chester took their chances and we did nothing. Good day in pubs. Long day. Wrong, Chester as a place is football mad , no less than any town in the country. Our problem is it's so close to Liverpool and manchester. You dont have that problem and yet we still get around 1.8 to 2.3 k in this crap league. We have never really had owners that have given the fan base any success, going from disaster to disaster just when we think we have turned the corner. The Ground every Chester fan will tell you is nothing we feel proud of. Again we were shafted by the club owners at the time. It was to be twice the size but we got left with a shoe box. But at least it offers a great view and brilliant playing surface. On the game I thought I'd be happy with a point before the game. Our performances have been awful of late and we always seem to struggle against you lot. Early goal was a good start for us to build on and give the team a lift. Honestly expected more from you as an attacking side, thought we did well to stop you playing your game 1st half. 2nd half we did a job on you, but even then I thought youd get back into it some how. Surprised to see so many of your fans leave so early, when there was still time enough to get back into it. Great to see a decent following in the away end , just a pity those that want our manager out stayed away. Hopefully see you in the play offs

Has your other mate Curtis Pond gone into Westerns yet? Gosh, how long have you been saving those up wain? Bravo, very funny, but you really should get out more. Anyway, let's agree that you haven't witnessed enough of Tex's performances to say what you said earlier, with any justification. Then, and you will have noted this, I have already acknowledged that my past assesment of Gowling is for now at least, looking a tad optimistic.* As for my 'damning comments' on Chapman, desperate straw-clutching, but read on. They were largely referencing his puzzling reluctance to venture from his goal line, something I still feel he could significantly improve upon, but a more recent appraisal acknowledged a much improved performance. I don't really understand your Pond comment, but taking lectures from you on goalkeeping is actually quite amusing. * A point I've made to you before, but acknowledging past bloopers (have made many, and worse) is nothing to be ashamed of. You should give it a try**, starting with the kid who can't defend, at tier 8 (eight), to save his arse. And is now an established International and regular Premier League starter. **You won't of course.
