But we’re still 5th in the league. The fact nobody played in the league today is the reason. If we had played like that against a league team I don’t think we would still be 5th. Is it tactics or players. Willo looks like he is only going to score if it hits him on the legs from somebody else’s shot. To many times defenders scuff the ball up in the air and it comes down 5yards behind them. Ceesay not in the game enough. We passed the ball more times to their right back than to our own players in the first half. Can our players not cope with the crowds at home games. That’s why we play better away. Close the meadow end at the next home game see if that helps. The only reason we're 5th is because of our good away form but most of our fans don't go away so don't see these good performances. The opening day apart, all our home fans have seen this season is us failing to beat lowly pub teams that most of the top clubs in this league would dispatch with ease.

Tbf (and using your own disparaging definition of yesterdays opponents)Hereford FC are little more than “a lowly pub” team themselves. Until fans accept that we are where we are and have no divine right to play at a higher level, this attitude will continue to prevail.
Ilkeston are playing at a level where Hereford FC were playing a few seasons back and are no mugs.

Ilkeston are playing at a level where Hereford FC were playing a few seasons back and are no mugs. That may be true but to be successful in this league you have to have a certain amount of confidence bordering on arrogance. By any measure, be it average crowd, budget, potential fanbase and history, we're a much bigger club than the likes of Ilkeston, Needham Market and Radcliffe Borough so why do we struggle to beat them?

The game was there for the taking once we scored, they looked spent. Would want to see their effort at the end though, that looked in as it I think it hit that black net post thingy then ricocheted behind the goal.

Just because they're not mugs, does not make them a good cup side.

Marty's last couple of posts remind of the lyrics of one of Decadence Within's tracks. Next couple of hours on YouTube sorted. If that's the case, he'll have to change his name to Marty Ledbury

We should look at signing their number 9. Caused a lot of problems for Howkins and got stuck in without getting injured.

What is the 5g like in their area, because Caddis believes its the 4g to mixed surfaces being our issue.

I've mixed feelings atm. I think we're playing badly but obviously, doing well in the league. Obviously our home form is poor atm. We will improve with a few bodies to come and go. Our away resilience is very impressive.
As for the match Saturday, Willo looks ready for the glue factory atm. Tex is (sadly) never going to be a player at this level. Too small. Kicked about like a penny floater. We need another striker in on loan and some big warrior in midfield. The other issue is, we tend to base our formation around Babos - which means some of our other players have to play out of position. So, do we sell Babos to Matlock for 10 million or continue our style purely to suit him!?

I was directly in line it swerved one way and then swerved back at the last second and went round the post. Very unlucky for him and skid marks in chapmans underpants.

If we were away to a higher level team, and failed to win the replay (which will hopefully happen to them), that chance would be in your head for a while. They were unlucky based on that chance.

"Rumoured to be signing for Matlock" is the new "Chester put in bid".
