I don't think we were good enough to be honest. Ok it was all Hereford 2nd half but, nah the team is reasonably decent, good even - but not good enough.

May not get there, but boy have we let a lot of points slip very carelessly away at ES since Christmas.

We've done OK this season. Don't seem to have that much in the way of footballing intelligence. And the keeper has lost it. He might get it back but at the moment for me he is heading back to Chasetown. Seen much worse teams than us in the Conference back then with HUFC, but things have moved on. We don't seem to get beaten by class or ability but nouse. We haven't got any.

We drew at home to Alfreton Town who let's face it were a terrible footballing side. We desperately needed to win this game. We didn't. We haven't got what it takes this season. Caddis has done well enough but not enough. We won't get in the playoffs but doesn't matter because we wouldn't win them anyway. Most teams in this league are shite though. Nearly all of them are shite. We ain't too bad. But not too great either.

Goals against is what, should we fall short, prove to be the killer. Too many, clearly, but far too many are down to obvious, silly mistakes. Scoring enough, plenty of which are a joy to behold, particularly when compared to those we concede, Cowley's today was another gem, but what to do about the centre of the defence? Prefer a back four, think the full-backs are more than good enough, and clearly, Downing is a class act who very occasionally switches off, so is the issue Pond and Cameron? Is there enough clear communication in there? Do we need to row Z it a little more when under the cosh? Over to you Mr C.
All of wich said, huge credit to those lads today. Alfreton were a dedicated non-football team who exploited the laws and the officials expertly, but we dug in, played 75% of the football, didn't sulk or lash out, and despite missing two absolute sitters, scrapped away for a point. Far from over, seven big ones to go.

We do cause as many problems for ourselves as our opposition do.
That last minute equaliser felt like winning a trophy mind. A proper buzz around the place after that.

Far from over, seven big ones to go. Downing played a few sloppy passes tonight. Cameron is one of the few vocal players on the pitch. Not sure who was to blame for the equaliser as there was so much going on. I think Skinner maybe could have cleared it? It will be online soon enough. Their third goal was sweet.

Yeah no doubt but we needed to win the game. 1 point at home isn't good enough for us, even if 5 down at HT.
A draw is no good. Except to Alfreton.

I'm still half-full, and suspect that they'll be feeling very much like there's still a decent shout of top seven. And also that a draw from 1-3 with 30 left, against that sort of opponent isn't a complete catastrophe. And a win at Brackley (I know, but stranger things have happened) puts it absolutely in our own hands.

Two of the goals conceded had Downing’s name on them with the stupid short passing out at the back, might work for Man City but Alfreton were ready for it and all over the mistakes. We lack a big awkward centre forward for the long ball from goal kicks hence trying the short passing. Couple of possible ways to get round that. Put Cameron up for those kicks for the physical presence to allow Cowley and Babos to pick up the bits? Alternatively cast our minds back to the home match v real Posh in League One where they put all their players hard over on our left side leaving George Boyd terrifying Richard Jackson on the other. Ceesay in the Boyd role would have the same effect and at the very least drag an extra defender over. Most full backs wouldn’t relish being that isolated against him. Anyway yet another home game that provided entertainment. It’s obviously too much too expect referees too stamp out the fouling tactics of Alfreton. Too much to expect them to stop their kind throw merchant stealing 10 yards but oh so typical that they are right on the ball to move our free kicks back a yard or two and ignore the defender needing to get back a full 10 yards. It does look like we aren’t quite ready for play off success or even play offs. But I’m hopeful that PC knows exactly which players will bridge that gap and hopeful he will recruit them this summer.

No blaming the ref, had a reasonable game. Fans can't keep blaming the ref on our team's inability to dictate a game of football at home. If we were good enough we wouldve won that, irrespective of any shenanigans going on. Too many basic errors at the back / keeper.

Pond 4; Skinner 5, Cameron 6, Downing 5, Hudson 5; Teixeira 6, Babos 7, Mendes 4; Okeke 6, Cowley 6, Ceesay 5.5.
As for the formation I think we all advocated using a goalkeeper. We have now won 1 of the last 8 home league matches.

A good in-form keeper inspires the defence, one out of form does the opposite and creates uncertainty. Time to give young Sterry a go?
