This time to the mighty Banbury.
How much longer has Gowling got?
Despite the squad builder money he has signed(yet again)players who are not good enough.
Different squad, same old results.

Yes, you would expect us to beat the likes of Banbury but for once I think Gowling needs to be given time to see if the squad he's assembled is capable of winning this league. If we're not in a top six place by, say, the end of September then it might be time for the board to consider a change of manager but not just yet.

Not a great performance today - 2nd to the ball too often, not passing the ball quickly enough, no runners, no movement, no shape, nowhere near enough quality. Too much reliance on hoofing it up to Barnet and just hoping for the best. Banbury just looked a better team all round - hungry, moved it quickly, good pace, solid - everything we weren't ! Next 5 or 6 games will tell us if the squad Gowling has assembled will be challenging for a play off place come the end of the season, but on today's performance, no chance.

What we now know, of course, thanks to my investigations, is that Mr Gowling is on one big salary at this level. It outstrips several managers at League 2 level. "We" are not even in the the National League.
I'm watching you, Mr Gowling.

No complaints. They were the better team overall.
Embarrassing fans though.

Please god just go to 4/4/2 this just doesn’t work consistently. Storey/Barnett/Holloway for the front 2 need a centre half so Haines can play midfield Lloyd out on left frees up evans like revell last season gowling so frustrating.

Most of us have known about Gowling's salary for over a year.

All true, the better team, bar, possibly, the last twenty minutes. Would go as far as saying that Banbury, how I don't know, were as good for an hour as any side I've seen in this division. Too many of our own were off the pace today, and contributed in part, to all of their goals. Which said, 3-1 didn't overly flatter them. I suspect however, that last seasons starting team would have got properly spanked. On the (straw-clutching) plus side, our goalkeeper played the pass of the day, possibly of the season, and Amadi has the look of someone who seriously knows his stuff, and will shine. Hope he starts on Monday. Shouldn't make light of these things, but the sight of Thames Valley plod manfully holding back the local ultras was a scene lifted straight from The Walking Dead.

Whilst we are talking Josh Gowling, I'm not sure the best way to manage McLean is to substitute him practically every game.

McLean, scored didn’t he, doesn’t fit in with Josh’s ideas of a forward….. Interesting comparison to be made though. Cast our minds back, Whing given a cheque to disappear and Josh allegedly given post on big salary. So one has taken a fan owned club with no major financial backer to a promotion and joint first place in NLN on sun 1000 gates, the other if I’m being gracious has made snail like progress on top 3 divisional gates but has yet to achieve 2nd place at any point. Yes in season manager change is stupid but the comparison is stark. If the positions remain the same as Josh’s contract comes to an end we might well consider there are others who could and have done better.

Think that Josh also made the same comment with reference to Haines in midfield. One thing for sure our back line is so easily carved open by movement and pace, something Josh needs to sort urgently by bringing in an experienced strong CB and an effective defensive midfielder.

Well, yes. Haines and Hodgkiss who play next to one another are too easy to turn. I distinctly heard messrs. Hall and Goodwin state on the radio yesterday that during the first half Hereford FC won no headers in midfield. (I noted that Pinchard was subbed at half time, perhaps illustrating this fact.) Haines, as previously advised, does precisely that - wins headers in midfield. And I'm on no kind of salary whatsofeckingever.

Agreed. Been saying this since the first game…and like GRL I am also unpaid. Haines not a central defender. On a positive note I see Jaanai got sent off yesterday and Boston remain rock bottom.
