This thread is a microcosm of the national Brexit debate. So many different views, so many variations within each view and not one suggested solution that could possibly please (or appease) everyone. What a bloody mess! See above. ๐

Watching Newsnight this evening it has occurred to me to ask who fellow posters consider to be the most arrogant of the Rees Mogg political clan, Jacob or Annuncia?

Civil war seems more likely I must admit.

Should civil war break out then,
Woe betide a man who decides to break into my house. I still have my army training , and in the 70s I was one of the best bareknuckle sluggers south of Staffordshire.

Hmmm, I like what he's done here but I've always disked him for the profits he's made out of the business of pushing tobacco sales throughout the Africa continent. His absolute refusal to discuss the topic when approached was embarrassing as he squirmed away into his taxi. You'll be moaning about the (South) African wine producers pushing their addictive products throughout the British Isles next. ๐ Right. Ot even the opium that Britain pushed onto the Chinese in the 1840s that contributed to their Empire. Fret not though, if a catastrophic Brexit goes through that Empire will be able to try to do the same and everyone will be happy....

Well the Chinese seem to belatedly be getting their own back by pushing their state-sponsored low-cost manufacturing onto the world. Seems to have contributed to the collapse in UK manufacturing capacity, particularly the steel industry. And then there's Huawei getting ready to become an integral part of the upcoming 5G roll out........ On a serious point, you seem to have a thing about recent British history and appear keen to denigrate the actions of politicians and the practices employed by undeniably unscrupulous entrepreneurs. Some of your stance is understandable and I agree with a lot of what you say. The East India Company certainly has a lot to answer for. Then again, so does Exxon Mobil in the USA. Serious question: Is there anything in recent British history that you feel able to commend?

The unwavering commitment to offer safe haven to the unfortunate people fleeing from oppression? That'll be those political parties welcoming a growing number of Tory MPs then.

Kenneth Clarke talks a lot of sense, he see's right through Johnson. I can never get my head round how more people don't see right through Johnson. It seems bafflingly easy to see right through him to me, but I guess a lot of people fall for his shtick

Can only hope that they both get what they deserve next time thereโs a vote.
