I cant see how anybody could look at that little boys picture and try and rationalize it to fit into into some twisted agenda.
How on earth does your humanity rot to that extent ?
My kids are wrapped up safe and warm in bed and I believe that any child is entitled to that.

There's just no need for that sort of put down in a open discussion.

Just a thought.....when the tens of thousands of other men, women and children died where were the preaching folk then? So the media show a film/picture of a sad loss of a young life and do gooders spring from no where, where were they over the last 4 years, do they think this is the first child to have their life ripped from them, what about the ones blown to pieces and their families have nothing to bury, where were all the sweet folk who cry shame then! It's pathetic how suddenly we must save them, they should have been saved in 2011 when the first teenagers were shot dead for their slogan painting. The war years have been mentioned, countries joined together, won battles together, lost battles together, where was Europe when they could have joined forces to quell the upcoming civil war, I'll tell you.....they were running scared, to scared to stand up and fight because the minute they had shot a gun or dropped a bomb then the do gooders would have been screaming how evil they were yet thousands of lives could have been saved. No one mentions the chemical bombs, the rape, the torture, the murders....all forgotten while they suddenly spring to life as the holy ones who can save the refugees.

I think we should just be grateful that the majority of decent people have woken up and seen through tory/ukip/bnp rhetoric and are now seeing people as , er, people. There have long been concerns that our actions in the middle east were causing problems but sometimes a picture can galvanise decent folk in a way that a thousand worthy article cant. Just be happy that it looks like we are doing the right thing.

My father was a refugee, evacuated by his parents to the country from London to avoid death in the war.Thank God for the kindness shown by country folk 50 years ago. Today he would be left to die.

Confused with the similarities drawn by some posters to this humanitarian crisis and the Second World War? Did we not help refugees then despite our own relative poverty? Where did all the Jews go when displaced and the Western Europeans? Dunkirk spirit killed by Thatcherism. The point was made that we lived in a secure and safe country, and as such we do. But as a country we did not desert it when things got bad, we fought, not just wars, the right for women to vote, equal rights etc... These people should be asking to be helped to put their country back together, not deserting it. Thatcher had nothing to do with it, but Blair did. Sometimes I think that religion is the route to all evils. Ridiculous comment. Rule Brittania and all that shite. 1. We are a rich nation and the wealth was largely made by completely ravaging other places and peoples. 2. If it wasn't for the English Channel we would have capitulated pretty sharpish against the might of the German forces. We fought hard and wonderfully well, but when people make us out to be more courageous than other nations (such as the French) it really angers me. 3. Most of these people are fleeing areas (Libya, Syria etc) that we (the west) have helped flood with arms and made plenty of cash from. 4. How is someone in Syria meant to achieve your aim of putting their country back together at this point? How is a 5 year old child meant to develop into a person even capable of this when living in such conditions with no education? I could go on, but we are no better than anyone else. We are all nations made up of human beings with aspirations and dreams. Some of us can ruminate on these dreams. Others can only look to tomorrow and try to survive. Others simply want to reach a place where they can live a life they feel worthwhile. Some want their children to have a better life. Some want their children to survive.

Yeah great!...let's be grateful that people are helping others that are breathing, let's be grateful that all these people who have appeared out of the woodwork did feck all to help the 200,000 dead. Do I have to spell it out!... if these ones who are now trying to be martyrs had really cared they would have acted long ago and the little lad and many before him would still be breathing..... Same old shit, open my eyes now I can make a name for myself.....turn a blind eye when there's nothing in it for me....pathetic

Also, reading how all of our services are stretched etc and that we can't afford to take anyone else on........this country has plenty of cash. It is one of the richest in the world and the wealthy have (strangely) seen their wealth blossom during these times of enforced austerity. This has happened at the time that services have seen their budgets slashed in real terms and services farmed out to private contractors. Follow the money and take it back.

The pictures of kids in distress are always going to tug at emotion-that's how charities work. If they showed a picture of swarthy, hard-faced, gangster type, middle easterners, they wouldn't have the same response. By all means open our doors to genuine cases, but why do you think they are all breaking their necks and risking life and limb to get to us? After trekking through several democracies on the way? I won't bother giving the answer, as we all know why....

It's just a sad reflection on today's society that people and nations show an immense amount of greed and are only interested in their own self preservation. We need Stop being so angry and help them as we are a lot more fourtunate then we make out.
