If we're trying to sign one of the best defenders in the league and another teams star player then I very much doubt we are offering terms which would allow him to walk away a week later. There is no rule to say these non contract terms are obligatory and atleast a couple of the current squad are not available on a 7 day notice. The Impression I had was that while some of them will be on contracts as such, Pablo and Mills for example, will still be available on 7 days things, but wouldn't be able to move for free. I may of course be talking out of my backside. As I understand it, its either/or. If you have a contract, you have a contract, the same as we are used to. If you are non-contract, there is the 7 day rule.

So in the past when we have had players on non contract terms in the conference for example, they would have been free to leave with 7 days notice. This lad is obviously one to keep hold of if we have any ambition for promotion so perhaps he is being offered a contract which would not allow him to leave or be taken in 7 days and that is why he is understandably mulling it over.

So he's not on a contract at Stourport?

Then I stand corrected, and that is in fact better news.

My view for what it's worth. I cant believe Beadle would of had the opportunity to have scouted every player at this level with the time he has had in charge and i can fully understand his recruitment of players he has worked with before and believing they will be good enough for this level. As we go game to game it becomes obvious some may not be up to playing at this level for whatever reason so surely as we play these teams he can see the players that stand out and could do a job for us. Im sure for those that were at Stourport Jamie Willets definitely stood out. Also the great thing is he lives in Kidderminster i believe so again he's local(ish), when you consider we have Mills and Heysham travelling from the Oxford area, so surely he fits the bill of a player you would understand Beadle would be interested in especially with our fragile defence and im sure would do a great job for us. No brainer for me.

Offer him the captaincy. Explain how you are going to make him a better player. Give him quite a lot of money. In that order.

Hmm so we've learnt that the club have probably been in discussions for 5 days. The player has said that nothing is set in stone and 'be hard to leave that behind'. Not really clear what'll happen then, presumably he is negotiating hard, possibly wants to play in their FA Cup game tomorrow first? Hope not as we don't want him cup tied!

On our recent form I can't see us winning tomorrow so it won't really matter

So will the club announce that he has signed at midnight The Saturday was last Saturday so we've been open to talk since then. There is no need to wait till tomorrow but I would guess that we won't get him till next week (if he does sign). He is probably seeing how they go tomorrow in the cup then making a decision, I know if I was in his position I would. Are we playing tomorrow? (Sorry, been working a bit hard today) No, it's an FA Cup weekend.

Yep - Chelskie in the cup. Away. 3pm ko. See you down the Jam Tree. Alternatively, see you at Westfields on Monday. Ooops! Yeah thanks I knew about Monday, it was the "tbc" on Hereford fc's website last time I looked that made me think there might be a hastily-arranged fixture tomorrow. I'll just put it down to a poorly maintained website then. But they're all volunteers, right? And it must take quite a lot of careful thought to work out how to squander 70 per cent of potential programme revenue.

Not really, a lot of people have made the same point about the programmes, but if you've had a few and want to be obnoxious that's all good.

He plays for Stourport but where does he live? That's often a factor, especially for 2 training trips in the week.
