Everyone can see we are lacking height. This lad has shown he can dominate in the air (even if it was against one of the smaller strikers he will come up against this season), and PB has seen him play a full competitive match. It also looks like he is reasonably bright, has leadership qualities and is reasonably local. What other criteria do people suggest we should be looking for?

Misera is a grade A WUM.
He posts a wide-ranging number of criticisms then as soon as something starts to look slightly wrong he highlights whatever he said as an example of his amazing foresight. Much like a crappy TV psychic if you spout enough shit some it will start to look prescient.

Well I certainly think he would be a great signing, he dealt with the balls we lumped up to them for most of that first away game with ease. Who knows he might even be great with his feet, not all tall players are only good in the air!
As for complaining about Beadle reacting to Tuesday night by bringing in new players I think they're would be much more moaning if he didn't try and sort it out!

Or he could get in players that have played in this league for a number of years, captains the side who are top of the league, and meets the credentials of a centre half we need. I know your just trying to wind people up on here, but wind your neck in for once hey. No wind up here, just making the simple point that it shouldn't take a manager 5 months to put together a title winning squad especially when his budget is 5 or 6 times that of his nearest rivals. Willetts hasn't just started playing this season, why didn't Beadle or his backroom team spot him earlier? Longest pre-season any manager has ever had? What, to put together a team from scratch? I suspect that most managers have at least a few of their better players from the previous season to build on.

Mmm could he be...
"I'm captain of the team I've played for the past six years, top of the league and we're a close knit bunch. Be hard to leave that behind 2/2"

Have a look at the squad. It's full of previous players. Now, we might be picking one up we played against. (He did play well at Stourport, and I personally think it could be a good move. Though Mr Beadle decided to tell the press his ilk can't play football: er, welcome Jamie...).
The early picture smacked of lazy recruitment. We want more Mills and Hayshams. They are good. Never mind "sustainability". That's so 2014.

I'm struggling to see your point here. Don't worry though, I'm sure I'm the only one... It's pretty obvious, isn't it? Beadle's had possibly the longest pre-season any manager has ever had, what with being appointed back in April. He's had 5 months to scout potential signings, research the league we're in and the standard of players required and only now, 5 games into the season, has he realised that we need more experience at the back. And, as BSM points out, he could cast his net a bit wider than just looking at players we've already played against! He was appointed with 2 weeks of last season remaining. Are you seriously suggesting that was enough time to scout all the teams to see how they play? I don't know if you've noticed (I imagine not) but information on this league and the teams within it isn't exactly easy to come by. I agree that perhaps he ought to have done a little better, or we ought to have brought in somebody who already knew this league, but your point is, as usual, absolute shite.

I suspect that PB was caught out by the number of players he had listed for signing who either turned HFC down or simply signed elsewhere. He then had to use players he'd assumed would be squad players. The Mills and Heysham signings was a good piece of work and they will win this league for us. The rest of the recruitment this summer is now clearly questionable within the context of the league, the type of football required and the physicality needed.
Let's not panic yet. It may be a bit of a test for the old ticker from time to time but we will surely come through by April. 8 points clear remains my prediction.
Ps. I also can't believe the Manager bothering to even consider how the supporters want the team to play. Sort it Peter. As It seems that (allegedly as read on here) the fans really are paying your wages!!

No team at this level will win the league by playing "pretty football" - sadly. That doesn't mean it doesn't need skilful people playing, but cut up pitches and lumpy grounds from October will limit tippy tappy stuff, but it doesn't necessarily mean long balls up the middle either. Full backs plonking it down the wings and then into the box is an option, but still pretty direct. Most teams try to hoof it to the box and "play" from there. Then again, I only watch football and know nothing.

Going forward, pretty football could well win us the league - how many times have we seen the likes of Page, Pablo & Purdie stand their opposition up and then dance by them? Seems to happen on a regular occurence and that is a very positive sign. Where we've been going wrong is we've been trying to defend 'pretty' too. Too often we've overlooked the option of knocking the leather off the ball in preference of trying to play our way out of trouble - can't always happen like that. A nice mixture of sharp, incisive attacking play and smart, ruthless defending should see us go very close.

Ok - A bit harsh by me I suspect - especially as I thoroughly enjoyed our forward play on Tuesday, and you are right that will open up teams - mainly at home or on good expansive pitches. The reality remains that we need row Z merchants to clear the lines positively and to cut out the big centre forward threat.

Tbf to beadle I think he had rightly or wrongly based his recruitment policy on being placed in the southern s/w,when that was lost a number of those players probably from the Bristol and south west decided the mid league too low down and difficult to travel for,I also think the board thought that this league could be won on the cheap, hence the rumours that far from offering the best wages we offered peanuts, that being the reason Tyler wier went to Worcester, I actually think the board have to take a lot of the blame for the smalltime attitude they seem to have which needs to change and fast, sustainability is all well and good but we can't afford another season of this league, get to the southern prem asap then look at it again.

I agree that perhaps he ought to have done a little better, or we ought to have brought in somebody who already knew this league, but your point is, as usual, absolute shite. If I was going for a job interview I'd do my research beforehand. Any prospective manager of HFC must have known that starting in the Midland League was a strong possibility so they should have researched who was in it, who the best players were, maybe attended a couple of games and spoken to the managers involved. There's also plenty of online resources available compared to what non league football was like 10-20 years ago. Beadle must also have built up plenty of contacts during his 30 years in the game as well so why didn't he ask some of them? So it sounds like Beadle was poorly prepared for the job, so the blame for our poor start must be shared between the manager and the board who appointed him. I'm not sure how your last sentence makes any sense - you agree with me but you think I'm talking shite? You're struggling with my sentence? I'll explain for you. Your reasoning is absolute bollocks. However, I do feel Beadle should be doing a little better.

I know we aren't Chelsea and Man City etc, but both of those had rather large squads full of wonderful players yet seem to be splashing out many millions on new players. So to the rest of the football league clubs. In other words , they all had squads of players but want to improve. We started the season with a squad, the majority of whom on here seemed quite happy with when announced, and we have since found out we have a few limitations and Beadle is trying to address the problem. I cannot see what else he can do apart from that. No matter how good a player may look in pre season friendlies, it takes actually playing competitive matches to find out more. I certainly didn't expect us to be leaking goals the way we are. I certainly expected us to be scoring quite a few, as we are. The way we are playing going forward is actually pleasing to watch. And although I've only seen 3 games, I can't honestly say I've seen any player remotely near the abilities of our players. Meaning that just a couple of signings will give us the team that can win this league. It's a learning curve for all of us, especially Beadle. THIS. It is quite normal in football to discover after a few games of the season that that shiny team worth £X looking like world beaters on paper and in pre-season actually have limitations in the real world of everyday league action. Those with longer memories will remember a time before transfer windows. Why were they brought in? Simples, as soon as player Z started to have a half decent season all the top clubs would circle him and a offer his club could not refuse was made. A number of teams were relegated through selling their best players this way (although partly they did it because they thought they would be relegated and wanted to cash in!) Were all these players needed by the top teams? No but they thought that as they were playing well that they may have something to offer. The rules in our league still allow this kind of thing so it is no surprise that PB has taken this route when discovering his shiny team lack ability in a certain area. In fact it would be rather odd if he hadn't. If I were a manager looking to fill a position in my team the first place I would look is at those players who had already proved they were what I was looking for. As has been stated we need results now not after Christmas or sometime next season. Based on the start of the season you would want Jamie Willets in your side; a leader and defensive linchpin of a top team. Come to Hereford Jamie, you are just what we need!

Beadle said at the fans form at the railways club that because we were building a team completely from scratch, and because league rules make it easy to do so, we'll probably have a lot of players come and go in the first few months of the season as we adjust to the league and recognise what's working and what isn't. It made sense then and it makes sense now.
People are just looking for reasons to find fault. There's nothing wrong with recognising that something's not working and doing what you can to fix it. It's a damn sight better than stubbornly carrying on blindly ignoring the issues we clearly have. And you can guarantee the same people would be moaning if Beadle did that.
