So, we had a little look at the Green Dragon, Bishop's Frome this evening. Very good Purple Moose retailing at £3.20. Knowledgeable landlord from Northumberland. (If that's not an oxymoron.) He hates the Scots - also very heartening. Unspoilt pub - same as ever. Outside area included comfortable seats with backs. I like this place, best approached through Burley Gate and Much Cowarne. KP peanuts available. Take note, Black Swan. 8/10.

They got away with it in the Moon last night. Just. Proper Job a bit too cold but not quite enough to ruin the flavour on a warm evening. £3.80. Volunteer disappointing on the beer front as usual.

I'm intrigued to know (for the benefit of youngsalmon, I'm as easily intrigued as I am fascinated) why it's best approached through Burley Gate and Much Cowarne. Just for the scenery?

I think Caligula is the intelligent one. The road through Burley Gate / Much Cowarne is a twisty and more dangerous route especially when drunk or driven by aged rambling drinkers.
Best approached from Fromes Hill and past the Hop Pocket.
The route planning was obviously done at home on the computer and not insitu

But thanks for the reply.

You'll be telling me next that you answer questions in the same way. John Humphrys would not be impressed.

Every household should have a Des. In our setup its me.
My wife loves Country Pubs and white wine.
She is currently agitated by the following.
The afore-mentioned tendency to use 'so' at the start of every response.
The constant 'haitch' of people who also say 'Ereford'
Me telling her that she's fighting a losing battle.

Also, using the word ‘like’ as some kind of speech punctuation mark.

People who say "can i get" when the person serving them asks what they'd like.
It does my nut in.

"Can I have" a pint of Theakston's Old Peculier was my query in the Blue Anchor Inn at Aberthaw last evening. Very welcome after walking ten miles of the "Wales Coast Path", half of which accompanies dual carriageways through Barry.
£4.95 but worth it.
Jemima Pitchfork Golden Ale (Glamorgan Breweries) in the Monmouth town pub which is the King's Head. 4.5 strength. £1.99 and very good. (Pity about all the people in the establishment.)
