Gloucester City fans don't seem that bothered, here's one of the posts -
"Riccos game plan ten men in your own half home or away sticking with the same tired looking players that wasn't good enough last season."

Agree with the many who are underwhelmed by this appointment. The run up statements didn't match the result but again, as others have said, the guy should be given a chance. Won't be racing to get to ES though because of this news and now happy to give it a miss on Saturday.

Richards - Player coach for NSW Premier side Manly Utd - Become player/coach at Gloucester in 2014 before promoted to be Harris's assistant - Appointed first team manager in December 2017 and guided "City out of the relegation zone and almost into a play-off push". Eventually finishing 14th. - Manager of the month for February 2018 - Senior football manager at Hartpury college 2013 till present - Appointed assistant director of Elite Sport at Hartpury in 2016 - Richards on Harris "He’s had a massive influence on both my playing career and my coaching so far." - Yes, Hartpury have had some success with players coming through the system and going into professional playing roles
I will give the man a chance but as others have said I can't say I am overwhelmed or at this moment think we are on way back to the football league. Does appear to be the "cheapest" option for the club but then again he is bringing in at present 2 of his backroom staff and Harris appears to be adding Fowler from Tamworth. Who's next to come over from Gloucester? Kit Man, player/coaches?
Other rumoured names in the list of 80's Chris Todd, Kevin Nicholson (former Bangor/Cardiff/Exeter not Torquay one), Paul Buckle, David Mehew, Dave Hockaday, Steve Burr, Adrian Pennock, Jim Harvey and Dean Holdsworth.

Nicholson ‘rumoured’ to be in the running for the Glos job - could be interesting to see the two clubs fortunes moving forwards...

I quite liked what I saw about Nicholson and when he posted about head coach role I thought it seemed as though he might be coming to the Street. Yes, he didn't have National League experience but that's where Harris would come in and supported him. I think he may not of excited some fans as he wasn't a known "name but I think the reaction might of been a bit more positive than what the majority of the reaction has been for Richards.
Nicholson is ranked in the top 16 young coaches in the country and is highly certified with a track record of coaching, managing and developing players/coaches. He has played "influential roles in the development of several young players in recent years for example Will Hughes (Watford), Matt Grimes (Swansea), Tom James (previously Cardiff, now Yeovil) & Ollie Watkins (Brentford).
Hopefully Nicholson gets a managers job soon and maybe see if were right or wrong I guess.

So there we have it, we all knew it but hoped beyond hope that something sensible would be pulled out of the bag. Fail. Can we just confirm that we have got rid of a man that has won three successive promotions six weeks into a new season, then spent 3 weeks advertising and having interviews, and end up appointing a mate of the bloke making the appointment. What a façade.
Two weeks ago Mr Harris on video was looking for a ‘manager with experience at this level and above’ – his words not mine. This fella has been in a job in Conference South since December 2017 – 30 games as a Manager. Fail. All this in the say-so of a fanciful report from some experts - experts who cannot be named (assumed because they are either Mr Harris, or they simply do not exist) who say that the way forward is to have a set-up that 99% of current football Clubs run properly do not do or believe in. At least he can pull in a favour from Tony (you know Tony Pulis as we are mates). Still we have got to go full-time because we have been told by the experts to do it, we haven’t got a Scooby how we are going to turn over the million quid a year we will need to do it properly but we have to do it as the experts say so. What we will do instead is get eighteen 19 year olds who have been released by other clubs, pay them £300 a week each, win the League, and sell two of them on for half a million quid a year. The experts have told us this in their report. Surely the answer was to look at a Conference North/South manager that has excelled on a tight budget at a smaller club and punched above their weight, and will be tempted with a little bit of opportunity – like the managers at Brackley/Chippenham. Too standard and not headline-making enough I suppose. I wish the new guy luck, he will get my backing, but this is an almighty gamble at a time when keeping sensible was the name of the game. The good news is that the Board (and in that i include Mr Harris) have jumped fully into this with both feet. If it fails the lot have to go. Untenable.
Just back from Chester and whilst obviously disappointed with the scoreline, we did make more of a fist of the game than we did on Saturday. Unfortunately we are totally impotent going forward. At least we have Tony to call upon who will help with a couple of strikers and a pair of wingers.
By the way, anybody know a good lawyer for a Trading Description problem i have - i purchased a Season Ticket in July for a Football Club, but have been given one for a circus.

Any one of those names would have been better than the one Harris has given the job to. I just hope Harris hasn't got as many missing mates as Exlandlord or we may end up with more backroom staff than fans!

In relation to all these wonderful qualifications that we are being told about, a question...… When you've passed the theory section of the driving test, would it not be somewhat stupid to think that it qualifies you to drive, at top speed, in the chaos of a 4 lane motorway?

Overall, I am reasonably comfortable with the set up. Harris clearly knows this level of football, and has contacts. If he can bring players in, and Richards is as good a coach as it suggests on paper, then, yes, it could work very well.
The whole situation has been handled poorly, however. If this had been announced 48 hours after Beadles departure, making it a clean, crisp process, it would have cut out several weeks of bad feeling being built up, in which time, any confidence on the pitch has been completely wiped out.
An overhaul of the squad could easily be in line. Could be several weeks before we see any improvement. Big job on their hands to change the tide in the immediate future.

Deaman would probably be decent as well as he would just have to focus on defending rather than being in a defence that pushes up high when we're dominating possession.

This thread is an embarrassment. Just how entitled are you lot? Blimey. It's a bit like Man Utd sacking Mourinho and replacing him with Steve Evans.
