Why don't they both just say? "As a member of the cabinet you effectively sign up to being 100% behind the party you represent and its leader, to do otherwise is a resignation matter". Or something like that. I am assuming Starmer was in the shadow cabinet at the time, same as Sunak was in the cabinet when Truss went a bit crazy?
I am not sure what the fuss is with Corbyn, he was at least principled at a time when most of the Tories were anything but. He had a few stances that weren't to everyone's taste, but at least he properly believed in them. It is democracy, if you didn't like him you could place your vote elsewhere. Enough people did to stop him being PM. Just.
It is like that Reform Party who would be polar opposite to a Corbyn old skool Labour set up. Some people look at Farage like he is the Messiah. They are not everyone's cup of tea, and beneath the spin are a combination of a bit sinister and full of shit, but they are a genuine voter option.
