Did he really leave the D-Day commemorations this evening to participate in an ITV interview?
Really?
The King was there, not in the best of health. POTUS was there. Macron was there. Zelenski was there, Starmer was there.
Oh, Cameron was there, too.
Why wasn't the Prime Minister there?
If he had a family emergency to attend to, fair enough. But a political interview?
FFS!

His excuse was that the D-Day commemoration programme of events was made in advance*, as though this was a surprise to him.
Which it probably was, as this is a bloke who doesn't seem to plan anything well in advance, although he'll tell you his plan is working.
* - I'm no expert, but I think the D-Day commemoration programme of events was made in advance of his TV interview

It could have been worse, he could have been there for the actual D-day.

I actually feel a bit sorry for Sunak. Meant to be a decent bloke. Whoever had orchestrated his campaign has got him to stand in the rain and get drenched. Whip him off to the Titanic museum for a campaign launch photo op, getting him to stand by the exit signs on the plane for a photo opp, then they persuaded him to play truant from the D-Day event.
