Bit worrying that from Caddis.i don't think any of the squad are good enough for the national league so if we can't stop players going to teams in North and South we don't stand much of a chance.i think Caddis and the board would lose a lot of goodwill if say Cowley or Ceesay moved to Chorley or God forbid Alfreton.with the club on a high and leases sorted and 4000 turning up we should be able to keep our best players.

Cowley or Ceesay did not look like they wanted to stay yesterday neither had any impact in the game imho. They have shown they can play to a higher standard than imho. yesterday’s performance let Caddis down.

Cowley not prolific enough anyway. There were moments yesterday where he was needing a second touch then the shooting opportunity had gone. Needs to be a bit more instinctive.

Cowley not played too well lately and been out of starting line up. Ceesay did not get much of the ball first half, maybe off day for him. D’Ath not signed anyway, seems a solid player but not dynamic. Teixera is just hard worker mainly, but on contract anyway. Howkins is average and plays better whenalonside Downing. However the latter may not stay either.

D’Ath looks a tidy footballer who does a lot of the unglamorous stuff, and does it pretty well, what Shankly called a piano carrier. Would prefer to see Pugh in that role, but suspect that if Scunny don’t keep him, he’ll get a full-time gig somewhere. More concerned about getting some speed/mobility into the CB area, a NLN Tamika.
(Throw in a NLN Toumani, maybe a Chalky, and I’d off to the bookies).
Anyone btw, have a list of who is part and who is full time in the NL/NLN?

Up to when he went off (tactical substitution?) I thought D'Ath had a good game yesterday. One of the few to be fair.

Caddis just being honest and open as usual.
Although, once again if 4000 people turn up for a dead rubber and we can't compete with clubs getting 600 odd then something isn't adding up.
Anyway perhaps Caddis is making the same point in a way. Who knows?

He said they would "love to keep" the majority of players but that won't be possible and far more goes into retention than what fans see on the pitch.
Well that would be rather foolhardy.

Chester fans also frequently ask why don’t their gate income and squad builder make them compete financially for the best NLN players. I’ve come round to the idea of asking Chris Ammonds (it’s said he reads this forum), what would our average gate need to be to compete for the best NLN players?

At the start of a season you never know how many non season ticket holders are likely to attend regularly.

He said they would "love to keep" the majority of players but that won't be possible and far more goes into retention than what fans see on the pitch. Well that would be rather foolhardy. How many, and who would you keep? Well, what's pivotal for me is the Lyden situation; every time I see him play I don't actually see any evidence that he's carrying an injury. He would be a major signing, for me. I have seen good performances at one time or other by all the 3 main centre backs: Howkins and Cameron get stuck in while Downing is good positionally. He passes the ball well but I don't underestimate Cameron in that respect, either. Howkins is younger and can shift when he wants to. Cameron is the most error prone but gets through a lot of work. None of them score goals, however. I'm not sure any of them is the answer but I would favour Howkins and maybe Southern who is more adaptable position-wise. I would offer terms of different sorts to both Williams and Cowley. (I didn't see evidence of the latter not wanting it on Saturday.) D'Ath is an older version of Teixeira but more sturdy in possession. Not sure about him. Needs game changers alongside him - and we do have one, his former colleague Babos. I wouldn't entertain any of the wingers. Okeke is, I presume, out of our reach. Best loan signing by Hereford FC, for me. Pond. No.

Just thought he looked a bit dejected in the walk around. He will give 110% most of the time but just things don’t go his way and he doesn’t seem to be able change it around. Kept trying the overhead kick all season but it never came off needs to try the simple things more. Not value for 20% of budget imo. Keep as a squad player. Any game he did not score this season was a waste of Caddis,s faith. Southern bad back is a problem for him keep as a paid game to game option.

Cameron seems like a nice bloke but he's nowhere near good enough. Howden had a better season than I expected he would when I first saw him but even so I'd happily see him go too. It shouldn't be difficult to find two upgrades at this level without breaking the bank.

Everything, in our position, is a bit of a gamble. Outside of loanees from clubs who like and/or trust PC, almost anyone of L2/NL quality has a dubious injury history, is 33 or older, or is Mustafa Bundu. We could risk a smaller squad of better quality, and hope to have more luck with injuries, or a larger squad with less gold dust.
It’s a tough one, good luck Mr Caddis.
