Exciting end to the season.Torquay go to Taunton knowing a defeat will leave them in the bottom four and their hosts will leapfrog them.

National League rather than NLS. Check out the attendance though. Halifax went into the play offs with this result and Oldham (an ex Prem team) would still be in with a sniff if they had won. Not miles apart either. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68475940

All but three of the clubs are located north of Birmingham.

Birmingham is irrelevant to the north/south conundrum. It's nowhere near half way up England.

Birmingham is irrelevant to the north/south conundrum. It's nowhere near half way up England. OK. Just for you, I have done some research which indicates that Chesterfield is roughly half way between Bournemouth and Berwick upon Tweed. So, taking Chesterfield out of the equation means that just eight clubs in the National League are in the North of England. Using the same yardstick, only nine clubs in NLN are actually in the geographical north of England as you seem to recognise it. 😉

Facts are facts but the perception of North and South in the UK seem to be intrinsically linked to ones current and historical living location(s) and also population density.

On reflection, it seems there are ten clubs in NLN that are based north of Chesterfield. 😮

Given that Wales is just left of Birmingham - and they play amongst themselves - it makes more sense to think of a place a bit further right and higher up as the centre.

I'm about to leave my part of Wales to head for your part of Wales for this afternoon's play off clincher. Ymlaen Henffordd!

Chester, on the Welsh border, is around 75 miles west of Chesterfield. Skegness, on the North Sea coast, is some 84 miles east. I'll stick with my original assertion.
