Hereford is isolated in football terms. So is Barrow (remember them from the 1970s?). It was interesting to discover on Monday via 'The Times' that Barrow, currently flying high in League 2, are no longer based in Barrow. They're reported to have their base (and allegedly have for a while) in Manchester. Their current HQ is the FC United stadium, with a view to being able to attract players from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Merseyside etc. Seems the only time they appear in Cumbria is for 'home' matches. Or, was that a very good April Fool story? 🤔 If my memory serves me correctly, Stranraer, did a similar thing. Players trained in Glasgow, and only went to Stranraer on match days. It’s pretty common to be honest. Back when Graham Roberts managed Yeovil the team did all its training in or around Bracknell/Ascot/Camberley and only went to Yeovil on match days, as most of the players were in London/Surrey. Margate did the same; Chris Kinnear their manager at the time was a PE teacher in East London somewhere and used to do training in London and get the team down to Margate (possibly with Chas n Dave…..) for match days. I got chatting to a couple of their players who had stopped at the same petrol station as me after a mid week away game and they told me how it worked. Nice chaps, they complimented me on my choice of car Hawkeye.

Costs and the world is a different place.
Costs are absolutely crazy, what with insurance, liability, health and safety etc. These were not so bad back in 80's or 90's. We would have probably used the BF's end back in the day and this is why the capacity had gradually reduced each year. Therefore, I guess the gates would need to be nearer 4k to make full time work?
If they do the BF's end correctly, they could potentially get an income stream from this to help rather than what it is currently. I have an idea of what would be a good use of part of it, but I am not sure Hereford council would agree. That being it is vital to make the most of the opportunity that is there.
I always felt you had to wait for a dead mans shoes to get anywhere with careers in Hereford, probably due to lack of links. However, there are many clubs who are isolated and make a go of it (Norwich comes to mind).
The other option is relocate, but that would need a new stadium and the costs of that would probably make most of us have nose bleeds. If that where the case, where?
There are so many what if's and variables. The club's future must be secured though, but I think most of us want us to be back in the league again.

Are you still running that Range Rover lump and blagging parking slots in director's car parking areas at away grounds? 😃 I was so impressed when you posted that gem that when I had to replace my last car after it 'died', having looked at a humble Ford Focus, I actually ended up buying a Jag that was in the same showroom. Alhough I'm not convinced that I would be afforded the same favours that you manage to secure. 😉

I like that you bought a Jag, seriously under rated cars and basically Fords underneath, so most decent mechanics can fix them. You’d easily pull it off in a shiney Jag!

I predict tense scenes at 1:30pm in the directors car park at Forest Green Rovers next season when we get them in the FA Trophy, once the clouds of exhaust fumes have cleared sufficiently from the hill climb to allow the stewards to realise what is going on.

Isn't this more or less the set up adopted by Hereford FC since the club's formation. Players training in Gloucestershire/Birmingham/Warwick etc and travelling to Hereford 20-odd times a season. It was much better when the players had an affinity with the city, in my opinion.

It would be ironic if another Jarrod came along and found himself training on his own on Tuesday nights at Edgar Strasse.

Trouble is with going full time is that full time footballers doesn't automatically mean bigger attendances.

This is what the grown ups have been spending their dough on. Not always effectively it must be said. .

It hasn't done York City much good, they are still in danger of relegation.
