Which I have just confessed to watching in public.
It is actually brilliant. Not even sure why we are watching it.

We downgraded from David Attenborough on the Beeb to this. Rustie Lee is 72 which doesn't exactly make you feel young. She still has a monster laugh.

Just 6 (six) British managers. Poor state of affairs, isn't it? Why's it a poor state of affairs? Possibly because a) it seems our management coaching system seems less effective than those available in Germany, Spain, Portugal or Argentina and b) to this observer it just seems a shame that the British/English game is now largely managed and influenced by and with management expertise and money from overseas. Seems football isn't alone. Morrisons has just, subject to shareholder consent, been acquired by an American venture capital company, much of our defence capability is owned by American companies and pretty much all of our automotive industry is owned by companies based in Japan, Germany, France, India and the US. Those are FACTS. Nothing xenophobic about that.

20 current Premier League teams, 10 of whom Hereford United faced on an equal footing in League matches in a previous existence. Weird to see Brighton and Brentford at 6th and 7th in the Premier League.

Just 6 (six) British managers. Poor state of affairs, isn't it? I'm sure it will increase towards the end of the season as a couple of struggling clubs fire their foreign coaches and appoint Samn Allardyce and Neil Warnock in a desperate attempt to escape relegation.

It's 100% reliant on Scania and MAN trucks (both wholly owned by Volkswagen), Volvo & Renault trucks (wholly owned by Renault), Mercedes trucks (not sure where they are made 😉), Daf trucks (wholly owned by the American manufacturer Paccar) and Iveco trucks which is an Italian company. Remember Leyland, Atkinson, Foden, ERF, Seddon, AEC, Scammel and the like? Once the mainstay workhorses of the British haulage industry. All gone. The Leyland plant in, well, Leyland, still produces trucks but they're just assembling DAF vehicles rather than designing, developing and constructing home-grown product. 😢

We can't even keep hold of our Brexit helpline for British businesses.
There's nothing left for us. Perhaps we should focus our efforts on providing weapons to the middle east?

In discussions I've had over the years, with Tory voters, those are almost the exact same contributions they have made; throw in the odd, "...we don't manufacture anything in this country anymore," and, "...why are all our utility companies foreign owned?" and we've probably covered the gist of their moans. When I ask, "who did you vote for in the 80s?" the reply is always, "Tories, Maggie Thatcher; why can't we have a PM like her?" Oh, the irony.

Oh, the irony. neweconomics.opendemocracy.net/who-owns-britain/The piece is from 2018 but it is quite revealing. And, for the record, I don't promote Thatcher or her ideas and I do condemn our current government on pretty much everything they say or do. My point was that foreign ownership of manufacturing, defence support services, transport infrastructure etc etc. is largely prohibited to one degree or another in most industrialised countries except, it seems, the UK. On reading the article the issue seems to be even more worrying than I first thought. PS, I have no idea why my response appears the way it does. But I think you'll get my drift.

I was enquiring with an eye on the current national team who have done pretty well recently, and thinking that the approach and influence of managerial expertise from foreign climes at the top level has probably, no definitely, contributed to this relative success. It wasn't me who used the word "xenophopic".

Sorry to change the subject, there appears to be a lot of social media problems. Does anyone know if Tinder is down?

It wasn't me who used the word "xenophopic". To be fair, I don't think I used the word "xenophopic" either. But if I did, I was only mucking about anyway. I should probably start using pictures of people winking to indicate when I am joking. The world is awfully serious nowadays.
