The best part of it is Symonds Yat. My old stamping ground. I love the river, I feel at home with it.
It's here I saw CBB walk on water for the first time.

The Wye has always had some nasties in it, that's why Hereford was the go to hospital for Weil's disease research and medical intervention. The former Leptospirosis Reference Unit (LRU) in Hereford provided the national gold-standard service for over 30 years, but is no longer in operation.
Having said that, whilst doing boat drills on the Wye, many years ago, a colleague spied a Mars Bar, still in it's wrapper, floating by, which he grabbed and ate; I don't think he'd risk it now.
He's had no side effects at all, and neither have the triplets he gave birth to.

It's shocking. I live near the River Lea in Hackney and it's the most polluted river I've ever seen. It breaks my heart to see Kingfishers nesting amongst the sanitary towels and human excrement. The water companies are not fit for purpose; criminally negligent.

Considering there is a noticeable increase in respect from the general public it's an absolute disgrace that the waterways/bodies in this country are generally getting worse.
Ignoring the obvious treatment works problem, farmers should be pulled up and prosecuted for dumping waste into rivers, rather than merely being pulled up for it.
In fact, the amount of environmental/archaeological impact assessments which appear to be completely ignored by farmers is incredible. I would never want to be a farmer as I respect that it must be hard work. However, you have a duty of care to the environment and the history of the land, so stop Fecking it over, eh?

Interesting to see that Norman and Wiggins both abstained from yesterdays vote, to allow water companies to continue dumping raw sewage into our rivers and seas.
265 Tory MP's voted in favour.

Why can't they just drain the thing? We wouldn't need any fecking bridges then.
