“When Mr [David] Cameron had the idea [of a referendum] you thought: ‘This is not something people should decide in a moment.’ We are all influenced by the way only some of the argument is given, and once the decision is taken nobody gives you a real opportunity to change it again. The choice was either you stay in Europe, which is not perfect, or you go out into something nobody has any idea how it will work.
“So you give people the chance to make this big decision. And then it’s a 51-49 [51.9%-48.1%] vote and you’re thinking: ‘Wow, 49% are not happy with the decision that’s going to change the country.’ For the 51%, I’m sure they realised pretty early after the vote: ‘What have we done?’
“The two leaders of the leave campaign then stepped aside. It was a pure sign they were surprised themselves by the vote. OK, that can happen. But then, come on, let’s sit together again. Let’s think about it again and let’s vote again with the right information – not with the information you’ve got around the Brexit campaign. They were obviously not right, not all of them. It makes no sense at all.”

The Germans are undoubtedly a far superior race to ourselves. On current evidence, you'd have to think so.

Looks like the Tories might have a bit of an anti-Semitic issue themselves

I was too young to vote in the 1979 General Election.
I demand we have a re-run.

I think compromise is the key here.
How about a guarantee that there WILL be a rerun of the hokey-cokey referendum, as long as every university student actually pays for their own post-18 education?

An excellent analysis. Well worth a read. I haven't read such utter tosh in a long time! Perhaps as he "claims" to be an academic this shouldn't be a surprise as he is no doubt institutionally Marxist and utterly sold on the idea of undemocratic superstates rather than democratic nation states. I could spend an hour demolishing each and every one of his statements in turn but frankly he is not worth the wear and tear on my computer keyboard. Suffice to say that the reason Brexit is where Brexit is is due to having a dithering Remainer Prime Minister doing the negotiating who is more concerned about her own political survival than the interests of the country. This explains the complete lack of a robust stance on things like Northern Ireland, the Customs Union, The City etc. The UK has many bargaining chips and we might get somewhere if we started to use them properly. I suppose Mr. Grey would claim that I am a Leaver "blaming someone else" but then I am not the Prime Minister and she is using a different strategy from that which I would propose, if indeed she has a strategy at all. I am not blaming someone else, I and allocating responsibility for actions or lack there of. Criticism is perfectly allowable. After all if we had a Manager who constantly played a Goalie as a Forward even though he couldn't hit a barn door we would all be calling for at least a change in tactics, if not of Manager would we not?
