"There is much serious business before this house and I would be astonished if a single one of our citizens does not view this with contempt".
I don't always agree with Margaret Beckett, but PMQs today descended into an utter farce. Are these clowns really the best we can do as a country? In the biggest political crisis for decades we have our representatives behaving like petulant school children. I think I speak for everyone on here when I say that she's a bit of a stupid woman. Parliamentary rules are quite bizarre, aren't they? Peter Hain can do what, if the rest of us did it, we'd be arrested for contempt of court; Jeremy Corbyn voices what everybody else thinks and is castigated for it. This is what our politicians consider normal; no feckin' wonder there is no coherent government, opposition, and no alternative choices. EDIT. Who will MPs who are offended about this complain to? John Bercow.

Tbf it may have been slightly tongue in cheek but I was almost being serious. I remember seeing her earlier in the year and I couldn't think where I knew her from until I realised she was the MP who put in an absolute shocker on QT during the expenses scandal. I don't know what constituency she's from but I guess you could put the word Labour next to Danny Dyer's name in the next vote and he'd get a handsome majority.
On top of that she had this to say during the messiah Corbyn's rise to power.
Margaret Beckett was one of 36 Labour MPs to nominate Jeremy Corbyn as a candidate in the Labour leadership election of 2015.[33] Later, during an interview with BBC Radio 4's World at One, after it became known he was in the lead among the candidates, Beckett was asked if she was "a moron" for nominating Corbyn. She replied: "I am one of them"

And talking of beyond irony, has anyone ever looked up Anna Soubry's voting record? Interesting reading. If Anna and Chuka are the nation's last hope, then God help us.

Just taken a look to see what the furore is all about, but sadly didn't get to form a view on the woman/people debate, the PM was still speaking when I lost coverage.
And on a not unrelated issue, does anyone know if home insurance covers computer damage from size nine walking boot?

It's the hypocrisy of Corbyn that's the big story. For someone who claims to be a feminist and advocate of women's rights to be caught yelling misogynistic abuse is shameful in the extreme. It's never nice when a politician's mask slips and the thoroughly unpleasant person underneath is revealed.

His next mistake will be to forget to use one of these newfangled and frankly farcical new gender terms like non-binary and cis. Nobody was offended, if he'd muttered "stupid c---" it mightve been a different story.

Or is another example of your curious fascination with the Cambridge educated, former shadow Home Secretary who became the first black woman to hold a Parliamentary seat. I wonder what it could possibly be... (to assist its "Diane Abbott".)

Are we only allowed to criticise incompetent white politicians now?

Better to be described as clueless than to be exposed as a liar and perverter of the course of justice.
One would imagine.

I didn't know she had been Corbyn's lover back in the early 80s "loony left" labelled era.

Watched it live. He described her recent efforts as "criminal". Not remarked upon. If she'd said "stupid man" nothing would have happened. You know that. I know that. Move on.

No excuse for that, no. The Corbyn one is a non story. Agreed. But to be fair, if there happens to crucial vote in Parliament, she really should be let out of prison for it.
