What weird places internet forums are. Out there in the real world people lost interest in talking about Brexit 2 years ago and just want it over with ASAP. Quite why some people are still going on about it now is baffling. I personally couldn't give a flying Feck how we leave just as long as we do!

Not so. Other holidaymakers. But it really does depend on who you talk to. Out of interest, ex, do you think it’s going well? Still have faith that something will be cobbled together? No, it's not going well but that's not to do with the making of the decision by the referendum, it's to do with the pathetic negotiating by the cycle of personnel who've been involved. Barnier should have been told to feck off from the beginning. As it is, he's controlled and dictated the discussions. They need an agreement just as much as we do but there's 27 of them wanting it. Still time to tell him to go forth and let them do the sweating. They'll be back with an acceptable solution before you can say World Trade Organisation. Furthermore, if they want a customs border in Paddy land they can provide it, man it and pay for it. The UK had absolutely no negotiating power whatsoever right from the start. the fact that they put a guy up who is dumb as chief negotiator probably didn't make much difference. Now we have a Northern Irish bigot holding the UK to ransom. She should be told to feck off immediately and hopefully that will accelerate the prospect of a United Ireland, the lack of which is a stain on the name of Britain and a reminder of some of the injustices of it's imperial past.

The Conservative Government: "We're triggering Article 50 - the people have spoken and, whatever happens, whether we negotiate a deal or not, we will be leaving the European Union in two years time. Also the Conservative Government: "It's proving rather tricky to negotiate a deal. The EU appear to believe we are prepared to leave without one."

The vote to Leave was overwhelmingly down to xenophobic old people. It is this xenophobia which has condemned the United Kingdom to a worse situation than that which it was enjoying before the referendum. A huge majority of the general public is ignorant of politics and current affairs, let alone the nuances of trade. If some tinkering was necessary, it should have been done from within the European Union. (We may give ourselves another chance if we have another go and get back in.) In this ignorant nation I resent the fact that the man in the street has exactly the same number of votes as myself. actually, i can see, you would do well in politics, you make a speech but never actually say anything just allude, before disappearing to avoid having to spill the true facts, reminds me of bill wiggin
as far as "xenophobic old people", that's a bit unfair just because Ex voted the right way
a huge majority of those that decide stuff in goverment are ignorant of how joe and jo public are living day to day as they are purely concentrating on their own wealth and lifestyle
i resent the fact that pompous idiots also get to vote, but that's the democracy we have

This is undoubtedly true. However, if, IF, Brexit happens, 97% of us will find ourselves financially worse off.
20% of us however, will be comforted by the fact that we are not being overrun with non-British people taking our jobs and homes. Even though this is not actually, a FACT, and there will be countless thousands of job vacancies forever unfilled. Or filled by honest and hard-working people even more non-British than the ones we've barred.
You really couldn't make this sh1t up.

probably it is just coincidence that Mr Bercow, who will have the power to decide if there is a 'meaningful vote' , is being encouraged to resign?

Had a quick scan of that (thanks again). Yep. Undeliverable. By any party. I think "genius" is a tad optimistic, but I see your point.

Indeed it is.
👍
But you omitted to point out that I also missed out a "to" in my angry outburst.
🙂
On the subject of Bercow, Betty Boothroyd and George Thomas, amongst others, performed the duty of Speaker with dignity and firmness without sinking to the depths of self-aggrandisement displayed by the present incumbent.
In fairness, I guess that accusation could be used to describe many members of both houses in the Palace of Westminster.
Of all political colours.
Sad to say.
But I consider myself well and truly brought to book ecb.

Of course, you probably already know the flaw in this line of reasoning. Under WTO rules we have to treat every country the same unless we have a FTA. This means that in the event of no deal, if we choose not to have a customs border with Ireland, then we cannot have one with any other country. Instead of taking back control, we will have to give up any control of our borders - at least for 5-7 years while we negotiate the FTAs. If we impose a hard border between the north and the republic, then we break an international agreement - the so called Good Friday Agreement. We could just go ahead and break it, but at a time when we will be looking to negotiate a plethora of agreements across the world, starting out in this brave new world by breaking the GFA might not be wise. <iframe width="22.319999999999936" height="5.219999999999999" style="position: absolute; width: 22.319999999999936px; height: 5.219999999999999px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_52478276" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="22.319999999999936" height="5.219999999999999" style="position: absolute; width: 22.32px; height: 5.22px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1074px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_77760516" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="22.319999999999936" height="5.219999999999999" style="position: absolute; width: 22.32px; height: 5.22px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 144px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_77267569" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="22.319999999999936" height="5.219999999999999" style="position: absolute; width: 22.32px; height: 5.22px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1074px; top: 144px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_40809830" scrolling="no"></iframe> Would you care to have another go at solving this conundrum?
