And this dementia tax is a disgrace. If me or the Mrs get terminally ill and we need care I'd rather burn my house to the ground rather than let that despicable witch take it from me. It'll also give old people the sickening choice of either taking their own lives and leaving their kids everything they've worked hard for or staying alive and giving the Tories their house. Pure evil those Tories. At the moment anyone with assets over £23,250 will end up paying for their own care, be it in savings or in property. The new manifesto states that the threshold will now be £100,000, to me an improvement but then I don't have any alliances to any party, just looking for the best option for this country. Would you be happy for you taxes to pay for someone's care if they have a million pound house as you cannot discriminate between a person who has a 150,000 house and one with a 1,000,000 house. Edit. Just to add, if anyone on here works for Hereford council can they pass a message on that if they send me any more invoices I will hand deliver them back straight up the senders rectum

After a few minutes of BBC1 it becomes immediately apparent why May doesn't feel confident engaging in any debates, meeting the general public or doing interviews...

May is, and always has been, an utter lightweight. She failed as a minister, and is completely out of her depth as a leader. A complete and utter shambles. I have seen 6th Formers better prepared than this.

Agreed. Working for Hereford Council is a Contradiction in Terms, not unlike the term Army Intelligence, describing something which, by definition, does not and cannot exist.

So you do read stuff from "such a biased newspaper". FWIW there's a good deal of sense in what he writes, although, as someone who had the benefit of a free and extremely good University education (5 years of it), it rankles that my daughter has come through the same degree as me, at another excellent University, with a huge student debt. The fact that she is likely to be earning enough to start paying it off within months of completing her degree is a small consolation, but being saddled with thousands of pounds of debt to the Student Loan company at 21 is not something that I am applauding the last few Governments for. The point the author makes about concentrating resources across the entire Secondary education system is very valid. Presumably by linking the post, Jammo agrees that that is the appropriate way forward rather than the ridiculous free schools, Academies and potential new grammar schools the Tories seem hell bent on inflicting on us.

But who is going to pay for it if it is free? Let's stop pretending that government money isn't our money. Also some people probably will never pay it back. If your daughter goes on to be a great success salary wise then I think its only right that she should pay it back.

Spectacularly missing or ignoring the point I've made. Again.

Gonna be a few chuckles going round if Mrs May finishes with no more of a majority than she already had.
Still, I suppose they'll all have had a couple of months spongeing off the election expenses account.

One of the forecasts today has her with two less seats than at present. Can't see it myself but we can live in hope.

Unfortunately, the flaw with these polls, seen in recent elections, is that significant numbers of voters are sufficiently embarrassed or ashamed of what they do in the ballot box to lie about it.

The huge number of young people registering to vote recently should bring a smile to Mr Corbyn's face.
Strangely, with the deadline looming there was a huge social media push to get people to register from every major party. Except the incumbent Government. I wonder why.

It's strange how an election was called by a Remainer to win an endorsement for enforcing a hard Brexit and it is now likely to be fought on law and order. Events, dear boy, events...

Andrew Marr interview.
Regardless of any political sympathies, I thought that Corbyn performed so much better than May did last week. At least he tried to wriggle his way out of some of the accusations rather than just keep repeating the same worn out mantra. Also thought that for the last couple of minutes he absolutely owned Marr.
Between the two, I'd give him the advantage of an away goal going into the return leg.
