I remember consoling a young Pitman when his mistake cost us our chance in the play-offs (maybe the year before we went out of the league for the first time?). He must have been a teenager then. Hope his connection to the club is happier for all this time.

What a forgiving lot you are. Pitman should have resigned or been sacked before he did so much damage. He signed a squad of quality players. Name a dodgy Pitman signing? We were 4 points clear of the drop zone when he got sacked. His football was pretty good to watch too, certainly better than Davey, Peters, Foyle. It was just those late collapses. We lost something like 23 points from winning positions that season. If games had finished at 80 minutes rather than 90 we'd have been nudging the playoffs, not going down. Yeah, if my auntie had bollocks etc - but I don't think he deserves quite the level of disdain that he's received.

I like your post but to me he represents pain and misery. Sorry.

Pitman, no way.... he was the start of the rot (great sponge bob) His management style belongs in a deep pit man.

True dat. I'm glad I wasn't at Gillingham away, I'm surprised anyone managed to get out of there without trying to slit their wrists on the turnstiles on the way out.

Didn't realise he missed that last minute penalty

Spoke to a few players under the Pitman era and they all said (separately) that Jamie was an excellent coach. I'm glad he has the job, cus at that level that's what you need, a decent coach. Thr tactics will undoubtedly come from someone else.

I'll take your word from it. Like I said, just keep him away from the first team. Please.

I remember when he first joined as physio and the crowd erupted when he first came on to treat someone.
Bizarre how the trajectory of his spell as physio changed in the way it did with the comeback at Northampton. I really didn't like him toward the end but to be fair to the guy who could blame him for taking the job and having a go. It was a unique and fortunate set of circumstances which led to him being manager. Had he not been physio at the time when a managerial vacancy had become available then we would be now laughing at the suggestion of pitman being manager.
Having said that like all crap managers he did start to feel the pressure toward the end and became quite arrogant. He's only human and was well out of his depth but his attitude will still leave a bitter taste with some.

I wish I had played for Hereford United. It's the closest thing there is to a 'job for life' these days

Hell we lost some games in the last few minutes that year With ten minutes to go I knew we would give it away every time it was like a re occurring nightmare every game

Obviously the relegation from the Football League had absolutely nothing to do with the management and players. Well according to some who dominated the airwaves on the discredited Bulls Banter pages, anyway. Good job that's gone, then...

I think its UITC who appointed him so not a HFC appointment.
Based on his experience in the game and especially as head of the Swindon youth academy I'd say its a great appointment. After all who are they going to get who is better based around here (I assume they are not paying enough to get people to travel far)

Good to see Jamie back.
His appointment as caretaker manager was worth a punt, but he proved himself to be a poor longterm solution given his lack of experience. The pressure clearly got to him, and it became almost painful to watch his public disintegration as things got away from him. I would much rather remember the sterling service he gave to the club as a player over many years.
I'm also happy to believe that he is an talented coach, and I wish him the very best in his new job. You never know, he might make a good manager yet. Experience is what you get, just after you needed it!

His caretaker role at HUFC was also sensible, extending it wasn't.* *said not with 20/20 hindsight, but at the time. You can check on Bulls Bant........ Oh, sorry, you can't. Munsleyed.
