Pretty clear to me that the moderator was referring to grayham's spamming of the thread with a picture of a boat for no apparent reason. I don't know many forums which would let you get away with 3 boats on one page of a thread, to be honest. My question is, how many boats would warrant a clean up? 7 ? I'm pretty easy-oasy when it comes to repeated images of most maritime craft. Seven seems reasonable in lieu of anything remotely pertinent to contribute. Other moderator's opinions are available.

Mike et al
There are reasons why there are several moderators on here and not just one hidden in the background. Moderators are entitled to their own opinions, are free to post them and are subject to the exact same rules as all the other posters. If anyone judges I have crossed a line with any of my posts then they are welcome to hit the report button and report it. Then one of the other moderators or indeed admin can, and I fully expect them to, investigate it report and act accordingly. I have always said I will abide by their decision fully without questioning further and I am further happy, so everything is out in the open, for any moderation determination of my posts to be advised openly on the thread concerned. This way clarity and transparancy about the way moderation is conducted is open for you to see it.
I stand by my posts and advise I made no threat. I advised a course of action I will take.
Grayham, like everyone else here is entitled to his opinion and free to post whatever he wishes to post as he wishes to post within the realms of decency set by the Moderation Team, but he is not entitled to bully those that disagree with him. I am of the opinion that Grayham crossed a line when a serious and important discussion was taking place and his repeated placement of the fishing trawler ruined a perfectly good discussion. I advised a course of action I would undertake if he CONTINUED ruining it. My moderation would have been to delete the repeated posting of the fishing boat and nothing more. It is why I asked him to post sensibly rather than not at all. He is and continues to be able to put his view point across if he so desires.
Sometimes Grayham raises good points that need to be discussed but that doesn't mean his is the only valid opinion and if I wanted to stifle or restrict him I could have used a 7 day ban and be done with it, but I didn't. I am not afraid of bully's and I will give as good as I get but I am happy to do it openly. I am also happy to be reported to admin if anyone of you wishes to make the report. Such a threat does not bother me nor will it hang over me like the sword of Damocles.
If it makes everyone happier I am more than willing to go the route of BB and not post any of my opinions on here and moderate secretly behind closed doors with no explanation. It is a choice only you, the users of this forum, can make, as without you, this forum serves no purpose, and by the same token, without moderators this forum ceases to exist.
My final word on this, if I have offended anyone with my posts, I openly, unreservedly and unconditionally apologise. It was not my intention I simply wanted to keep an important discussion running.
Have a good evening each and everyone of you.
Carl

Here we go, bully again. And anyone can see that Graphic Removed For Spamming The Thread by JCis in fact someone fishing and making a right mess of it. Just like you. I am pretty sure I speak for 97% (that magic percentile) of the forum when I say, grayham, stop being a prick!

No they haven't Grayham/Martin but this isn't what your used to. Your used to hiding and moderation being undertaken in secret, this isn't BB mate, this is a whole different set up. Have you made the complaint to admin yet? Nah. Thought not, Sorry Carl but I think this is the moment you lost it. Grayham's a huge pain in the arse but, having met them both, I can tell you thst he's definitely a very different person to Martin Watson. Faced with post after post after post of absolute shite from him, I don't blame you for snapping, but as a mod you should probably rein the threats in a bit. Firstly, apologies to all for posting something that's remotely relevant to the thread. Mike, by the sound of your post it looks like you might know Martin well. If so, would you mind giving us an idea on what you think about the various allegations that have been made against him? How do they fit with the person you know? Secondly, Carl, you're doing a great job.

I think Grayham's an irritating tool who does his best to shut down any conversation where he doesn't agree with the content, so completely understand your frustration. It was more your mad accusations of him being Martin Watson that got me, really. And to add, I think you're generally doing a sterling job of moderating this forum.

I know him, and have had many dealings with him, yeah. He's always seemed a good guy but I don't really know his personality inside out, I'm afraid. I offered a few theories as things panned out in the Munsley thread, but the longer this has gone on the less I think there's any possibility of any of them being close to the truth. It's the prolonged silence on the issue that concerns me.

Carl (never met you, but that appears to be your name!),
You're doing a cracking job.
Grayham, you're embarrassing yourself. I suspect you have just as many questions to ask of the HFC set up but are scared of the answers you might receive. Grow up a bit. Martin is quite capable of defending himself as and when he sees fit - he doesn't need a lap dog like you to protect him.

It's nice that the Mods have a soul. They're welcome to have a go at me if they feel the need.
I respect their view as a people and understand their position as a mods.

Martin Watson has taken a vow of silence and is becoming a monk.Seriously, I'm pretty sure we all have formed our own opinions and I'm pretty sure they are more aligned than they have ever been. Except for Grayham, who hasn't got the brains to realise that he's being well and truly used. Talking of which, he reminds me of sooty and sweep. Grayham is sooty and MW is Mr Corbett. Or am I showing my age now?

I am not defending Martin at all. I wish people would read things properly. Seems like I'm the only sane one on here.F**king hell.

I genuinely don't believe that Grayham is being used or put up to this by anybody. If they were going to choose anyone to do their dirty work then I don't think they'd be stupid enough to choose him.
What was that quote from @wainwrong about him?

I speak my own mind, not anyone else's. Yep, you speak it all over the bloody place, non-stop. Sometimes it'd be better if you reined it in a tad, but you don't seem to have the self awareness to do that.

Looking forward to the eggs on faces quote when all is revealed by JC. The problem with that, Sooty, is that you are probably basing this on comments that were made to you by our ever elusive friend. Is it possible that these comments may not have been factually correct?

How quick we are to forget. We forget our history, all we have been told, all we have learnt for ourselves. Baiting, fishing, netting were a common occurrence on our famous and never to be forgotten Bulls Banter, so much so that they were easily recognised and dealt with in a competent and professional manner. The amateurism on her is shameful and some need to learn, and learn fast

After catching up on last nights posts the decision is to let all posts stand.
The forum policy is that moderators are allowed to have opinions and are actively encouraged to enter into debate. JC has posted publicly on this forum and explained a post that was misconstrued about using his modding powers. His explanation and apology has been noted as good practice and has created an opportunity to move on.
One complaint has been received about a post that Grayham made. This has been dismissed by the modding team including JC.
There are many serious discussions taking place at the moment. The SES Team ask that users respect the opinions of all posters, even those that you do not agree with. We accept that passions may run high at times but an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding for all forum users will create an environment all HFC fans will benefit from.
Finally, I remind all users that if they any user makes a post they find offensive or they believe crosses a particular line then they should report it and it will be dealt with by the modding team.
