They won 6-5 after being 4-0 down away from home. How very Herefordian of them. Fair play to them. Craig Jones scored four including two penalties.

All i know is they're Step 4.
Craig Jones has "answered his critics" according to Podge of HT - not quite sure what critics Jones had at this level. He's easily one of the stand out players.

So is Craig Jones someone we need to be looking at? He's performed commendably for HUFC in the past (think Portsmouth away, League Cup). Treated so abysmally by Martin Foyle I would understand any reticence.
Thoughts from those who know his game better than I do?

I'd be shocked if he would even consider it after the way he was treated last time.
Foyle and Keyte burned those bridges to the ground; seems Westfields through and through these days.

Why keep looking to the past? I can understand to small degree but surely a wider net should be cast?

It was something to do with him and his job at the post office or something? Where he took a gamble on becoming a pro footballer, and it didn't pay off. I expect lots of semi pro footballers have to make that decision at some point. I remember thinking the flak the club took at that point being somewhat unfair, personally. The one appearance I saw him make under Foyle was pretty lacklustre as well, given he'd gambled his future on it.

He gets 20 goals from the middle of midfield in this league every season. Who have we got that will get near that?

Ability wise - absolute no-brainer. On his day he has consistently been one of, if not the best player in this league season after season.
Would he join us? Who knows?
My personal opinion is no he wouldn't but I'm not close to him so it's purely a guess based on how well treated he has been by Westfields and how happy he seems being their star man - can't blame him for that.
Maybe next season? Especially if we're promoted.
PS: If Beadle insists on continuing with the bollocks 4-4-2 diamond system he's currently implementing then it would be pointless signing Jones as it wouldn't suit his game at all. He thrives on arriving late from midfield and feeding his wingers with crossfield passes - all of which would be wasted in a diamond formation.

It just seems to me that something has not been right.
At Rocester at HT BP changed the system, took off the ineffective (outclassed?) Dean Lee and bought on Dylan Bonells. I wondered why a known defensive midfielder but it was a great move. Bonella anchored things and allowed both Full backs to get forward and support midfield. Our CB's had an outlet instead of hitting it long too often. Admittedly it was a gamble that needed to be taken as we were 3 0 down at the time.
Against Coleshill it did not work. Clearly the match focus was on the defensive failings and we only really got a grip in the middle once Coleshill decided to park the bus at 4 2 up.
At Westfields we often seemed outnumbered. With Bonella sitting deep and two wide men and two forward I'd say our centre mid two were outnumbered much of the time. So I guess I'm agreeing. If Bonella is to anchor things the full backs have to get forward and support the centre mids, or one of the wide men either get sacrificed or made to tuck in more. Or go 4 5 1.

If we sign Baldwin from Stourport/Stoubridge which I'm reasonably confident we will then this is how I can see is shaping up moving forwards. The centre-midfield duo can be any combination of Purdie/Birch/Bonnella/Gwynne depending on opponent etc. The reason we're currently playing a 4-4-2 Diamond is because of our lack of an out & out right winger as neither Sol or Miller seem to be cutting ATM.
