I was three months short of my fith birthday when Ron scored his wonder goal against the geordies so too young to be there, I've seen it many many times over the years though on TV video and youtube. Was wondering though what fellow bulls fans of that eastenders thought of Radford as a player his overall prowess as a footballer?

From childhood memory (and happy to stand corrected) Ronnie held his own in the old fourth division (1972-73) but wasn't one of the great stars of the side. Still a good player though. Could drop his shoulder. Had a decent shot on him, apparently. Much loved then and always.

Good old-fashioned pro who enjoyed his game. When he arrived at the club (from Cheltenham?) he asked the great JC where he should play. JC apparently said "you're a midfielder aren't you?" "Yes". "Well, f****** play in mid field then." No idea wherever this is actually true; just repeating a story I heard.

Sounds about right. Was it Ricky George (could have wrong man) who tells that story abut seeing the team sheet, he wasn't on it so he went up to JC and said: "I think I should be playing." JC said, "OK, tell that other f*cker he isn't playing any more. You're in." Someone else will be able to tell that story right!

The thing I remember about Radford is that he fancied a repeat, thus causing havoc in the Cattle Market and Meadow car park.
