Has anyone else noticed that the Len Weston Stand appears to be the least popular of the three home sections ?. When a game is made all-ticket it is often this area where a lot of seats are still available. Is it because there are some areas where as a supporter you have to guess what is taking place ?. To me this is a better looking stand than the Merton and the view, other than down the touchline is the best on offer . Is there any other ground in the country whereby if the action is down the wing, some supporters can't see it ?.

It's been that way for as long as I can remember. I started off going in the lower tier but once me and my cousin were old enough to be in the Meadow End on our own, we didn't care about the Len Weston

Far too many steps for this old duffer ! Bad enough tackling the north face of the Meadow End. Yep plenty of grounds offer a limited view, as I'm sure you know, altho I'll allus stand up if possible. One I recall was the smart "new" stand at Forest's City Ground, I had to sit there for our 92? Cup tie after my delay finding a parking space meant the away terrace was full, we had abt a 1/3 of the stand and I was right on the end near the home fans. Apart from seemingly needing oxygen for altitude sickness on a COLD day, plus a freezing arse, you couldnt see the near touchline at all. Even worse was the old Wembley after they put seats along the byline terracing, I always went in the ends since long before the byline seats went in, but those were clearly particularly useless "seats".

I love the LWS, but you can't move into ME for second half, and you cant have a half time pint.

You must have been sat near me, then, but my lateness was due entirely to a local pub which had free bhajis and samosas on the bar!

I don't recall any particular aromas, or welcome blasts of hot air, so couldn't have been that close ! I was on the very end of "our" row, 1/2 way up the stand, across the aisle to my right were home fans. Like me they quite obviously saw the blatant handball by a Forest player while lying on the ground in their pen box at the Trent end (to our right) when we were pressing for a late equalizer, they admitted we were hard-done by. Do you remember this, I've never read a newspaper account of the match and haven't heard any other White recall it ? Was Clive Thomas on duty that day...

I don't recall the handball...I do remember that we caught the Forest admin on the hop due to the vast and totally unexpected volume of away fans that turned up! It wasn't all ticket, and they were banking on Woking beating us in the replay! And of course, the blow up sex doll being batted around in our section of the open end!

Yep, as I recall it one of their players went down in the area, near the ball, his outstretched hand "accidentally" swept it back to Mark Crossley. Moments later Sherry scores for 2 nil. To be fair after the opening onslaught 2nil seemed a good final scoreline !
Shame on me for arriving late, as I'd stayed the previous night at sisters in Grantham 20? mile away, but had a great night in the pub with local Forest fans, so got to ground later than should have... spent ages looking for street parking spot. I was amazed at the sheer numbers of away coaches, given it was crappy weather plus I lived in W London so well away from the buildup "buzz". In fact we hadnt travelled to Grantham til the last minute Sat? afternoon, as I thought it was likely to be called-off, we aquaplaned all the way up the A1 much to my wive's delight...
