Don't get me wrong, fantastic result again today, we're on a superb run and we are in a great position, regardless of Alvechurch's games in hand. However, moving forward, to improve our performance levels OFFENSIVELY, do you think we need to bring someone in to replace Page, if that is possible? I think we have lacked width since his absence and today for example, early in the game, we weren't using the width of the pitch enough to stretch Westfields in my opinion. It was all coming through the middle and ok, if you pass it quickly enough you can create spaces but in the circumstances it was always going to be hard to do that and to be fair, their flat back 9 in the first half were coping pretty comfortably until the goal. The all important first goal completely changed the outlook of the game as it forced Westfields to come and have a go when we all know they just wanted to frustrate us for as long as they could and potentially sneak one on the counter. Mills finished it very well but the ball was shifted out wide in the build up and I always think putting the ball in the box from the channels asks questions, especially when you have the quality forward players to feed off the crosses like we do and I just don't think we were doing that enough today - only when Oates and Edwards pushed up anyway. I personally think there is a need for another left sided player to give us that edge. Bundu and Haysham are very good footballers, but they aren't wingers, that's obvious for us all to see. Tumelty is a good player and i know we have others who can fill in, but again, personally, I think we need one more. Thoughts? Anyway, i am aware this isn't a major problem and i have complete faith in Beadle, just sharing my thoughts and am seeking perfection Come on you whites!

I guess people see the game differently but I thought there were times when we played the ball wide when we should have driven through the middle

Don't think we lacked width today. Any time we looked to go wide their full back and winger doubled up on our offensive player. No point playing it wide into a 1v2. There were plenty of times when Joel on the left, or Greener (more so than Oates, who hugs the touchline and tries to overlap when we are attacking), had plenty of space ~35 yards out and should've looked to cut inside and run at their exposed centre back.

Maybe not the whole game today, but up until we scored. I thought we tried a lot of diagonal balls first half which they defended well.
When I say width, I mean wingers who are going to take people on and whip crosses in to the strikers too; thought Page provided this and the quality final ball. Should've worded it better.

Can't argue with that at all. Not sure if our players have been instructed to try and avoid running at the defence... seemed like that a bit at times.

The one good thing about being at this level is that with it being a tad less sophisticated than what we grew up with people like me who normally just go and watch and don't really know the difference between 442 451 4231 352 and all that crap can actually see what everyone is up to. This season I can actually see the difference between a left/right midfielder and a winger. That Tumelty is a good example. Tidy player but unlikely to steam down the right and hammer a cross in. Gwynne who I have always liked used to be like a Sherriff in a film getting to the edge of his county when he reached the half way line as an overlapping right back.

That's the problem I think, we've all been spoilt watching Hereford at times growing up, we have seen some great wingers. I first went in the 2002-03 season at home to Burton Albion and even during my period as a supporter I have seen some excellent wingers e.g. Paul Parry, Lionel Ainsworth. Easy to look back and compare.
Page was someone else who would beat defenders with an end product to follow; think he was a real find and he gave us something different. I quite liked Nathan Hughes when he played, he might be worth a go out there. Feel a bit sorry for him, thought he did ok early on.

Interesting thought that, I remember Beadle saying about the enigma, Sol Wheatley, who of course used to like to take people on at every opportunity. Maybe he would like them to, but when the opportunity is there and the time is right. Think Page's decision making was very good for someone so young.

Page is a huge loss however you dress it up, i hope he comes here either on loan or full time next season, good player for his age and he will only continue to improve.

If anything having a decent right back that could put the ball in would have been a start, Oates had so much time and space to deliver but still kept passing back inside to greener or Pablo, I could understand it if it was just Millsy in the box but with symons in there you had a big target to hit, he did it twice once for the 1st goal cuz' greener made a dart to the near post, 2nd beast had a free header wide can't help thinking that's the weak link. I do agree we need two wingers in essence pablo and mustapha kept wandering inside looking for the ball hence the lack of width

idk tango..I quite like Oates..probably has more potential than ability atm though..
Can see Summers partnering Willets CB tomorrow, with Green replacing Oates at right back.

It's hard to have an argument about tactics when your winning games, but I don't like the way we're overloading on the wings with Pablo and mustapha who are central midfield playmakers and look lost out on the wings.
Just my opinion.

When teams put 11 men behind the ball you have to go out wide to stretch them.
The trouble we have at the moment is we don't have an out and out winger.

And how many times did we as a team get behind there defence by going down the wings ? I would have liked to have seen the team try and pass and move through there midfield/defence as we have the players who can do this, but will admit to the pitch being a little slippey and maybe Westfields might have got a bit nasty when taking the piss out of them. I just think we seem to negative, lack of flair, etc etc A lack of expression maybe ?

We didn't get behind there defence because we don't have a winger who does that at the moment.
Anyway isn't it good we are discussing what's wrong with a team that is on a 24 game winning streak, who'd have thought that after the start we had?
COYW!!!
