We could have been like them and owned by a property developer...

Not enough 'hipsters' in Hereford to make this viable.

Not enough 'hipsters' in Hereford to make this viable. I'd say it's less about 'hipsters' and more about mindset. Hereford is Tory dominated and a little bit racist (in the General election UKIP came 2nd in both Herefordshire seats for goodness sake). For all of the talk of 'hipsters' at the likes of Clapton and Dulwich they actually do a lot of really excellent community work.

Fair point. Don't get me wrong, I'd happily take in a Dulwich or Clapton game if I was down that neck of the woods. Sadly, I can't see it catching on in Hereford (for the reasons you've given) though.

Can't speak for the Dulwich experience (though I had a great day there last year), but as regards Clapton, there's a lot we could learn from them – total, unequivocal support for the team, respect for the opposition, carnival atmosphere whether they win, lose or draw, food banks...
There's stuff I don't like too. A bit factional for me (even as a Corbyn-supporting left winger), and a slightly bandwagon feeling that I worry won't stand the test of time. Still, a trip to the Old Spotted Dog is always a pleasure.
As for the hipster reference, I'm not sure my good friends Paul from Ross or Roy from the forest would take kindly to that description!

A lot of what's happening at dulwich is a reaction to things that aren't deemed to be so relevant here, and therefore there isn't the same sense of community, sadly

Not enough 'hipsters' in Hereford to make this viable. Dunno, have you not been to the Burger Shop? Something like this wouldn't happen overnight, but a bit of a carnival atmosphere would certainly help limit the drop in attendance once winter draws in or the likelihood increases of us missing promotion this season. And in all seriousness, a couple of people with drums on the Meadow End would be a very good start in helping to keep it lively. Could get flags made up and sell them on matchdays too. And what about some bog rolls and flares? (joke)

You joke about flares etc but I reckon they'd be great - particularly at one of the winter away games on a Tuesday night.

I'm sure they would, but we wouldn't want to advocate illegal activity would we, mod?

Strange thread this, with mention of hipsters and flares.
If anybody mentions Shrink to fit jeans, Loons, Oxford Bags, Skinners and Drainpipe jeans they'll have covered most of the styles of trousers that I wore, when not at school or work, during the 60s and 70s.
Oh, I just did.
