Played the above for the first time today. Over 50s game. Not been able to play the "proper" game for some time (not that I've ever really been able to "play"). Hugely enjoyable. Any other members of the grey haired brigade tried it yet?

I think 11 players from HFC played it for 45 mins yesterday! I have seen this on tv and thought that looks ok, since the knees have gone, along with most other things I think my footballing days, at any pace other than walking, have joined in and gone. Did you not get a little urge to burst into a trot?

Played in a memorial match at Hanley Swan (mate of my son tragically killed in accident 2 years ago) against a team of Villa fans. Torrential rain, but a great afternoon.
Now to try playing regularly. Probably awful to watch, but great to play.

Did you not get a little urge to burst into a trot? There were a few trots. but you do get used to it quite quickly. A few of my mates play regularly and have persuaded me to join in. My problem has been my eyesight-corrected with contact lenses and then re corrected with glasses. Decided to play without either which was fine. The last time I played 5 a side was about three years ago. I lasted ten minutes and that was that. The elation of actually being able to play again (and nick a couple of goals too) put a huge grin on my face. If you get the opportunity, Nobby, have a go. Seriously. The body may not be as quick, but the football brain never disappears

My father-in-law and I looked into this as he wanted to give it a go but wasn't confident about rocking up and joining an established team on his own. I said I'd go along. I was too young and pretty to take part and there was no wiggle room in the rules so we just had a couple of pints and watched. It did look like a good laugh, tobefairlike. I used to play a lot of 5 a side and probably never got much over walking speed anyway...

Probably awful to watch, but great to play. Great to hear. Weren't UITC involved with walking football. I think it's a fantastic idea. I still play five-a-side once a week. I love it more now than ever, though it takes me two days to recover!

Not yet made it to my end of Essex yet but being well over 50, grey and with a beard it sounds like my type of thing. Will model myself on Jan Molby but with slightly dodgier knees.

I play normal football every Tuesday and I'm 53. You can play centre back for almost as long as you want. Played against Jonny Francombe once and he was pushing 60 but an immaculate sweeper. The teenagers respect you for still doing it. The combined age of our back four in a fun match two weeks ago was 213. Reckon I've had more fun playing football in the last seven years than I had when I could run about more. Glad you're enjoying it Colebridge. Don't fancy that walking football though. That's for over-60s I reckon. We're still young!

Had never heard of the game until that John Smiths advert. Had a search on line a few months back for anything in the Chepstow area to no avail. I would probably cramp up putting om my trainers these days I'm so unfit!

Sounds a good idea, but do they have keepers ? (as running aint that important to us, do we become "creepers" or somesuch ?)
