Bob Appleby RIP, proving the rule that goalkeepers are a bit mad ...
Question to A.I. - Did Bob Appleby have a shotgun ?
Answer - Bob Appleby, the former goalkeeper for Middlesbrough FC, was known for his quirky antics both on and off the field. Notably, he had a shotgun in his van, which he occasionally used to shoot pigeons over the training pitch. His playful nature extended to making bird noises during games, adding a touch of whimsy to the football field.
This was the 1960s by the way, so don't try this at home.

On the topic of the late gentleman I remember being disappointed when he was replaced in the starting line-up by Bob Appleby at Whaddon Road one day. Of the signings made by Dennison from Middlesbrough he wasn't the best. We lost. Thorndale played for them. He always did. Johnny Neville also played for us that day. Bulls News reports tonight that Bob Appleby has died aged 84. What a sad coincidence that he featured earlier in this thread. RIP. Good grief. Amazing. He's probably never had any kind of a mention in the past. RIP.
