Interesting to note that Shrewsbury is apparently to get yet another bypass (the North West Relief Road), funded by Central Government, whilst Herefordshire Councillors dither and dally about whether or not we need a second river crossing.
There are already more bridges over the Severn in and around Shrewsbury than you can count.

There are already more bridges over the Severn in and around Shrewsbury than you can count. They sense a Labour victory in Salop so are going for it. This could happen to you if Herefordshire ever got anywhere near a Labour vote. Let's face it, the Tories could demolish all signs of civilisation in Herefordshire and everyone who was left would still vote for them overwhelmingly.

Phew. I thought you were having more work done then for a moment. Already had two and a bit bypasses. But thanks for your concern. đŸ˜‰

I was told by someone way back when that Worcester got their bypass and Hereford didn't because they had a better project team.
If you have ever had the misfortune of being stuck in a traffic jam with me on the now fixed Worcester bypass you will have been subjected to my other go to.
I understand that when the Worcester bypass design process had finished they realised that they had cocked the modelling up and it needed to be a dual carriageway along large sections. They were well committed with their bid, so rather than risk losing everything funding wise etc. they just cracked on with it.
Shows the modelling works at least if true.

Yes that wuss bypass has been painful over the years. However there is a route through the city as well so at least there are two options .. whereas Hereford ? Pathetic to allow more and more housing estates to be built on the south side of the city without building another route over the river Wye !

Also. Infrastructure wise, I heard a whisper that following the much heralded lifting of the dome at Hinkley Point C (see YouTube), they have discovered it doesn't fit properly and it will take four years to be rectified. Came from someone pretty sensible.
Remarkable if true as having done a bit on it at earlier on in the job, you will be reassured to know that (a) the design process was policed to death, and (b) I am no longer involved.

The solution is to dam the River Wye at Breinton. It's pointless with no fecking fish in it.

Now many £billions over budget too. As you have 'done a bit on it', can you explain why the project is being undertaken by a French organisation? Do we not have sufficient nuclear engineers or whatever of our own? This country being the seat of the industrial revolution and all that.

I think the previous post to yours in this thread probably answers that

Actually the French must be pretty good, as not only did they front it, they won a fair few of the contracts đŸ˜‰.
Actually the French are surprisingly good at construction H&S. I think they are the only European country with higher H&S thresholds than us. You would think it would be Germany but they are well relaxed.
