Loved him, he was my teenage radio hero

Saddened to learn of this.
An eccentric, chaotic, marvellous broadcaster.
RIP.

This news is very sad - used to listen-in intently to his afternoon show in the mid-80s and chuckle along to the characters and the chaos. Happy days.
I bought, and still have The Pub Singer's single. Rock Me Amadeus!
RIP Wrighty - definitely gone too soon to be, well, fair really.

One of the very few truly entertaining DJ's. Very true. The discs he span were incidental. Just pure entertaining nonsense every weekday afternoon.

Wrighty was part of the background to my life. He could be annoying, but he had a way which was just effortlessly engaging. The old characters were hilarious - Mr Angry from Purley (who bizarrely was a Watford fan…)
RIP Steve.
